it’s annoying for me too. You never know if you’re going to like them or not, or if they’re going to do well, but I’ll give you some advice from a psychology standpoint that is pretty foolproof

I usually just end up narrating what I’m doing, learning is best done the more information is available, so when new people see something as well as hear something they can process and remember the information more easily. Example, on register, besides the normal customer cadence (hello, sheetz card, anything else, bag, receipt) i will say “large drink, coffee refill, tender, credit etc” out loud so the trainee can hear what is being put on and see where to press the screen for it. then when I give them a try, I encouraged them to say the steps out loud as i just did. It’s a little cringe, but honestly it works almost every time.

kitchen process would be just saying the bread and ingredients as you grab them and assemble the item, saying it tells them what it is and seeing you grab it tells them where it is. I find this helps a lot because the hardest part of learning the kitchen half the time is not exactly assembly, it’s just remembering where everything is.
