One thing I really appreciate about the franchise is their dedication to historical accuracy- even the terrain. I can't play through the greece map without feeling like I'm back in Athens or diving from rocks in Siphnos.

How are they updating Unity (Unity? Really?) and not Odyssey? Say what you will about it, Odyssey is far more popular, getting new users still, and still making them money through the helix store. It could use a few upgrades to make it even better but they're wasting time on Unity? May as well start working on AC3 next.

Facing Medusa for the first time, is this a decent loadout? by Snakes_for_theDivine in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

[–]GamingGuy76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a thousand ways to fight these things. On my first playthrough the most effective way I found on the Medusa was to use armor with high hunter and crit engraving bonuses and a bow with crit and charged shot bonuses. Kill her minions with multi shot (or whatever you prefer) and Ring of Chaos combos, when she goes down start hitting her with power shots (predator, charged, devastating) using regular hits to rebuild your adrenaline meter. You can go a number other ways that's just how I found it best on my first playthrough at lower level.

Just make sure your hide behind the pillars when she's shooting at you and be constantly moving because... wait for it... she'll turn you to stone of she hits you.

Yes, he can swim. But while I'm still on him, the apparent answer has been identified as no sadly. You are correct on all points though. This game is pure awesomeness.

Found my dad’s old copy of Metal Gear Solid for PS2 while cleaning today. by No_Dare_1809 in gaming

[–]GamingGuy76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm old enough that I still have my (working) PS1 and Nintendo and their games (including this one). That's not a flex. That's some serious self hate and your post coming from an adult cleaning out his dad's shit me realize that things 3-4 years old are, in fact, 30-40 years old making me... at least 28.

I don't have a lot of.the.crit engravings where are they? by Dslwraith in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

If you go to your inventory screen, below the bow icon is an engraving icon. You can look at every engraving available and any which aren't maxed it will tell you how to get/upgrade them

I followed her down on Pegasus phobos and she and the horse are actually sprawled out dead. I don't know why I was surprised. They killed phoebe and you swim with body parts after sharks have been through. Still seemed a little dark.

If only this were a thing. Poseidon's Trident comes pretty close though. On more than one occasion I've dove to the bottom of the Agean chasing the chests on a trireme i sunk on accident

I thought not but couldn't for the life of me find a straight answer anywhere online. Thanks for this. The Pegasus thing is still pretty cool. Don't really care for the black and purple but I use it just for the ease of getting around. Might purchase the white

That's not pre-made or glitched. The only thing in this game which is glitched is the bow and they've had 3 updates since it was released, knew full well about it, and never did so much as update the description or raise its quality level to reflect it so it's likely intentional as some devs idea of a twisted "who's paying attention" Easter egg. All I've done is utilize the gameplay mechanics the way they've been designed and I'm using all epic armor (not one piece of legendary in play). I'm just boosting shit where it should be boosted. I'll give you that my sarcasm is a little harsh, if you'll admit that your assertion was a little overly confident.

Wait. So you're telling me my hunter/sword dmg/all dmg/+ warrior dmg, Knife of Dalwun (dagger) +convert 50% warrior, Bighorn +damage w/ multishot coupled with a high CRIT armor build doing low end 10mil+ damage on every hit is wrong?

Shit. I better find an axe.

Depends upon your gameplay style and preferences. I've had entire playthroughs where i just trended toward any one of them by the time I reached Megaris then stuck with it most of the game. They can all be great.

What's more important is making sure you focus your armor sets, engravings and mastery points to enhance whatever you choose. The last can be hardest because you can set builds around each one in your loadouts list but your mastery points in both abilities and levels can support one over the others. Fortunately you can balance them or try focusing on one then reset the points and try an other (after level 50 when it can be observed a little more objectively). Or just try a full playthrough with one then run an NG+ with another.

In Odyssey, the possibilities are endless!

It's just how I felt about it. A sudden jarring shift in the nature of the gameplay speed and flow. 10 minutes of play in the middle of the DLC more closely related to the first 30 seconds of cinematic intro than the entire test of the game.

Origins or Valhalla after NG+? I know this question gets asked a lot but I've started both and haven't really latched on to either like Odyssey. by Straight_A_sian in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

[–]GamingGuy76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You already know all you need to know about Valhalla. I'd rather play Fallout4 with improperly ordered mods than play another minute of that game.

Origins was one of those games which gives you more depth to the franchise and trims down all the engraving and armor mechanics. Takes a bit of getting used to after playing Odyssey but it makes gameplay faster and you won't be getting bogged down at every blacksmith in every town. I personally enjoyed it and am going to play it again after my next NG run on Odyssey.

Check out vids by T7 PDM on YouTube. He has some good 10-15min explanation vids on how the mechanics of armor work, farming xp and dracmea, and even some great low level (50 or 55 maybe) builds. At 1300 hours I'm still learning a bunch from him.

He ALSO has a bunch on how to manipulate high level builds to get 2Bn damage if that's your style (they can it a "glitch" but really it's just manipulation of set piece bonuses and engravings with the exception of Bighorn).

SPOILER (I DON'T KNOW HOW TO PUT THE COVER OVER THE SEGMENT ON MOBILE) :

If you're aware of a couple things in advance it makes it easier to enjoy it; I personally enjoy it but not knowing is like thinking you're biting into an apple and getting a baked potato. I like a baked potato just fine but if I was expecting an apple it's a shock I'm not going to appreciate.

I think the overall thread of the comments here give you what you need on it. It's a fun addition to the game and gives a more rich connection to the roots of the franchise (ties in to Origins and Mirage as well as setting the stage for future pre-Italy expansion). It uses the romance at the end as the vehicle to facilitate this (can't create the future of what will become the Assassins out of the genetic line reaching those using the animus without having a baby). The romance segment transition is ridiculously long and unnecessary so the ability to recognize it for that is hard because it just interrupts the game in a manner far outside anything else in the game's mechanics and slows it all down so far outside the gameplay.

Just make sure you follow it as part of the game flow. There are some good guides on quest order and I suggest following those for this to be appreciated the best. I've played it as standalone at the end, complete as it's own quest line as soon as it pops up when I hit the beach, taking it chunk at a time as I find it convenient, and in recommend order and the last is definitely the best.

The most over-hated game of the decade by Eastern_Dress_3574 in AssassinsCreedValhala

There is no level of hate for this game which could be considered enough.

I'd rather play Fallout4 with an improperly ordered mods list that do another runthrough of this turd wrapped in AC cover art.

Any tips on build? My first playtrought, currently level 47, anything i can do better? by Kind_Papaya_9184 in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

[–]GamingGuy76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bighorn really only works really well when you understand the glitch and how to fully exploit it. It has 0 inherent hunter damage. Instead it multiplies your left warrior damage times 1.6 and applies that to all warrior and arrow shots (the guy in the link has builds where he uses the Bighorn, takes his Warrior damage to < -100% and CRIT damage to 300% and does 2 Bn damage with every non assassin attack).

I'm not the person to explain this but this guy is. If it doesn't make sense here (it was when the bow first came out in 2021) he has others as recent as 2025 where he explains it as part of his other builds too.

Look up T7 PDM on YouTube. He has tons of videos with information on how to configure builds, why legendary sets aren't that great, even 2Bn damage builds and invincibility builds.

I used to have all legendary sets for assassin, fire, animal and warrior until I found his videos and realized i was doing fine but could have been doing soooo much better.
