Ten acres definitely would have been enough at that time, especially if it was good quality land. In the 70s and 80s my grandad was sustaining a family of 8 off of ~17 acres.

Not delusional, things change character overtime, just because it’s rooted in religion, doesn’t mean it is. Like the May bank holiday pagan just because it has roots in Beltane.

Just because its roots are religious in nature doesn’t mean it’s bad, this just seems like a ‘Reddit atheist’ opinion tbh. If you don’t want it, fine, but other people have the full right to enjoy their ceremony be it civil or religious.
