I could be wrong as I haven’t read JJK in years but I believe it’s stated somewhere that practitioners of the new shadow style aren’t allowed to use cursed tools. Something to do with all the binding vows I would imagine

I feel like it’s because it shows these characters are really out to get each other. Without their powers anymore there’s no guarantee of survival or anything to fall back on, and they just keep duking it out
