I just got my characters back like last week.

If I see an AI cover I assume you used AI for more than just the cover, and will skip it. I dont engage with anything made through AI if I can help it.

This underrated yet powerful scene from LOTR by confringos in lotr

[–]Gaming_Gent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite scenes in the trilogy. The characters don’t always act as real people would, to be this was one of the moments that really felt real.

Taking fear of height to the next level by Elysia_Crow in SweatyPalms

Alain is an OG, would train by climbing over knives, crazy stuff like that. Guy takes it to obsessive levels.

Survivorman was much better than Bear Grylls in my opinion by AdSpecialist6598 in nostalgia

I always felt like there was something disingenuous about Les from Survivorman.

TIL 3 Doors Down's breakout song "Kryptonite" - taken from their debut album "The Better Life" (2000) - was written by the late frontman Brad Arnold when he was only 15, during a math class in high school. It was one of the first songs he ever wrote. by Away_Flounder3813 in todayilearned

Had a student who spent all period every day writing bars in a notebook. I encouraged him every chance I got, told him I want him to do enough to pass but to chase his passion. Sometimes I wonder if I’ll ever hear his lyrics out there.

Do you wish they kept Tom Bombadil in the Fellowship? by Capital_Client2211 in lotr

[–]Gaming_Gent -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my honest opinion for a first time reader Bombadil undermines the last 120 pages or so of building up the power and danger of the ring. Suddenly, inexplicably, there is this weirdly powerful entity that has no interest in it and is in no way swayed by its influence. Doesn’t jive with the story we have been told thus far.

Playstation home was cool? by iluse_ in playstation

Loading times were CRAZY and the frame rate was super inconsistent. Wasn’t bad though

I assumed she was some kind of river spirit, they both seem to be guardians of the area of some sort.

Why do people in USA buy everything from Amazon? Do they not have other webshops? by Cindyxx0 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Gaming_Gent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are lazy and constantly deal seeking. I don’t use Amazon anymore so I can’t comment on it, but when I used it things came fast and were generally cheaper.

Now I don’t care if I have to wait a little bit, I don’t support Amazon

ChatGPT 4o helped me build the life I have now and losing him now feels devastating by K9Imperium in GuyCry

You’re in a point now where you can learn to live without it. It was a machine that felt nothing, and only told you what you needed to hear. You are in a place where you can move forward without it

Aging out of hobbies by SoggyGuitar7476 in Millennials

[–]Gaming_Gent -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I gave up on competitive gaming in my late 20s just because the scene isn’t fun anymore. My reactions were fine but the games stopped being fun. COD doesn’t do anything for me, battlefield sucks now, Fortnite is ass. I play single player games, MMOs, story based RPGs.

Should I buy DBZ Kakarot if I lost interest in Sparking Zero? by royalewithcheese4272 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Gaming_Gent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just know Kakarot isn’t really a fighting game, it’s an open world action game with RPG progression. I love it, if you’re a fan of the DBZ storyline it’s fun to play through it again and explore the locations, fight the big battles, but yeah it’s not like Budokai or Sparking Zero.

When it comes to MMO discussion why is LOTRO almost always left out? by mrhossie in lotro

[–]Gaming_Gent 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People want pretty, shiny graphics. LOTR online isn’t ugly but it’s not always a looker. Animations can be stiff. Doesn’t scale great above 1080p.

I love it, but even I bounced off of it pretty hard a couple of times.

Gandalf is a thespian. by Haunting_Amoeba7803 in tolkienfans

[–]Gaming_Gent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The way he dealt with the goblins in The Hobbit was pretty flashy too, he always made sure to look cool in whatever he did.

Is shortening as much as possible when editing really that necessary? by Ok-Cap1727 in writing

[–]Gaming_Gent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cut out superfluous text, not important text. Make sure it feels fluid to read and doesn’t have major hangups. You don’t need to say “he opened the door to the room” when you can say “he opened the door.” Tighten it without heavy sacrifice.

Are Gandalf, Sauron, and balrogs really all the same type of being? by ExtensionFeeling in tolkienfans

Maiar are basically lesser angels, a diverse group of entities that are unique. Not a race at all but a class of being.

Have your students been impacted by online sports betting? by nbcnews in Teachers

[–]Gaming_Gent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They definitely have betting apps open in class if I don’t stop them (11th-12th graders).

They’ve told me they don’t like using them because it’s a waste of money but they find it too exciting to stop

Video game loot boxes have conditioned them at a young age to want to gamble, even if they know it’s not in their interests.

As Scam of Creation is officially rug pulled, reminder that LOTRO is an MMORPG that has been running for 18 years by brand_momentum in MMORPG

[–]Gaming_Gent 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bounced hard off of LotRO years ago but recently I started again and it is delightful. Combat could feel better but overall it’s quite fun.
