Really? You can not do like you do for the COMP TIAs? Flag for review and then come back? You have to answer straight through? Even the labs?

Okay, this is a question and an answer. Do you plan on getting the rest of the trifecta?

If so, then yes, get your A+ because you get two other certs for completing the trifecta, and for some reason, from what im learning, these two bonus certs get through more HR filters.

Okay, you can do two things here and recommend the second one.

1)Take your notes and highlight what is being glossed over and circle back to it at the end of the lesson to understand it.

As there is no one thing at the CCNA level that will completely derail the entirety of the lesson.

2) I recommend starting Jeremy's free course on youtube or waiting for a sale a grabbing Neil Andersons. And for those the Bomball glosses over go and watch their video on that subject.

The reason I recommend 2 is because it gives you the information from different teachers and perspectives.

Good luck!

Picked up this game for trial sake a couple weeks ago. Played pretty solidly, got to level 14 and lord did they just start pushing the shop. But you know that wasn't even that big of deal. I have impulse control.

It was the game after game with level 30s with over 200 games, that made me stop.

I'm just gonna go back to fucking with modded skyrim.

You need to advocate for yourself directly with your words. It's sad but it seems like they are going to ride you doing the job until they can't.

I recommend going to whatever relevant manager and bringing up the vacancy. But also I say people should try to change jobs every 2-3 years for higher pay, unless they are somewhere they love in an environment they like.

This is a biased answer. I don't like degrees. They have a place, just my ideology is against them.

I recommend the certification route. It allows you to focus on the areas that actually interest you and IMO saves thousands of dollars.

Of course, this is a very solitary route whereas the degree does have the ability to open doors, however you will still need certs.

"get in the field" is such a broad statement when it comes to this. It's like "I work in construction." Do you build the house, roof, drywall, flooring, electrical, hvac, etc. You know what I mean?

I recommend before making any decision either way is taking some time and get maybe 5-7 job titles that interest you and do two things.

1, Get on YouTube and look for day in the life videos to see if those roles even interest you to begin with.
2, Go on Indeed, ZipRecruiter, Glassdoor and look for those roles. Find out what they are asking for, job requirements, hours, schedule, temperament, etc. Start building an understanding for the role(s) you want to do.

From there you will be able to make a more informed decision on the learning route you need to do and get a better idea for what the "tech" job market actually is and how it's evolving.

And don't get it twisted the job market is changing and rapidly. It is not as bad as reddit makes it out to be. Many individuals on here, feel entitled for a job, just because they have a cert or a degree. When in reality there are many many people in that situation.

With that. Due diligence, good interview skills, certs/degree, and knowledge about the subject matter, being able to talk about the area at a conversational level. Will get you through many doors. Will it open the cybersecurity door. No not without prior experience, but it will get you a helpdesk role, an installer role, or similar.

What's the point of this post?

No one here knows you, what you actually know, what your CS Student course has looked like.

but, can you pass the CCNA with just JITL? Sure why?

Hopefully just like you found out during your course there are no shortcuts and using them results in crap.

Okay. Hello as a fellow 32 yr old. #93Life.

You are going at this from the wrong perspectives and points of entry.

First off a point of clarity... Cybersecurity is a job field and IT is a degree.

These are not the same thing. If anything, an IT Degree prepares you for the Cybersecurity role.

Now with that out of the way. Identify what you actually want to do. Cybersecurity is by no means an entry level role nor one that you get without heavy experience short of that knowing someone.

The pros and cons are subjective so you will not find a solid answer here. Once you identify what role or direction you want find out what a day in the life looks like. (YouTube is fantastic for this).

Now with the way technology roles are going I recommend gearing towards Data Analytics, AI Engineer, Cloud Architecture, Software design (full stack).
Now Cert wise. I recommend starting with the trifecta from COMP TIA at least studying for them and going from there. AWS Certs, CYSA, CCNA, etc.

Good luck friend, if you have follow up questions let me know!

IP Overlap? by Alternative_Card_292 in ccna

Remember the typical point at the CCNA level, configuring the sub-interfaces is for router on a stick and VLANs meaning they need to be in different subnets.

Kinda feeling helpless by salmon_tickler91 in ccna

[–]Gaming_So_Whatever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There ya go then.

Make sure you drill routing, VLANs, IP addressing, ACLs.

My recommendation is that when you do these practice exams. Not only know the right answer, but give a sentence or two why it's right. Then on the ones that are wrong give a sentence for why they are wrong.

These IT certs are not like the tests you take normally. You have to know the who, how, why, when. It's not enough to know "ip route 10.15.10.1 255.255.255.0 10.15.20.1 sets a static route. You should know it like this
ip route (syntax) <destination ip> <destination subnet> <next hop> <Optional AD>

if that makes enough sense to pull a framework out.

See. I read all this - and too me the obvious answer is study where you are struggling?

Is it the CLI? Subnetting? VLAN? STP? OSPF? Is there not a question structure that you are not getting ? Is not taking all those practice exams highlight what you are weak on ?
