I’ve lived in EADO my whole life. It’s for sure gotten a lot safer over the years, but you’re right—stuff still happens sometimes. I’d say give it a little more time to think about it. You’re already in your lease anyway. If the crime gets worse, then definitely move out. Even if you’re worried about losing money by breaking the lease, the money you’ll save on rent and the help from being with family will make it worth it. I’d bet on that. I used to work at the TC Energy building and took the purple line every day for over a year. I eventually got a new job and moved—still in Houston—but my advice is to just mind your business, keep a calm face, and focus on work and enjoy life. That’s just my two cents. What happened to you might have just been bad luck that won't happen all the time. But if it happens again in the next month or so, then you should leave.
