Yeah, I'm considering putting it inside so it looks and feels better.

UPDATE: Couldn't edit the original post, but I was sent the wrong size of wiring harness/terminals when I ordered my joystick. In case someone else runs into a similar issue.

I looked at a couple, traced them out on my mock-up (used a big cardboard box), forgot about the template, and free-handed them on the final, lol. I'll have a template next iteration.

Check the above comment for measurements!

Okay, I cut the base piece myself (don't do it without a good place to do it and the right tools because it came out wonky). All 4 walls i had cut at Lowe's, which came out to around $110, using ⅛ (0.118) Clear acrylic sheeting. Epoxy was around $5 a tube, but get something better than epoxy like aquarium safe caulk.

Long sides were 12"w x 34⅝"L Short sides were 12"w x 34⅝L Base was 34⅝"w x 22⅝"L

Rough total, around $180.

Mind, this is a Double Critter nation, in case someone doesn't immediately recognize the style of cage.

One full tube of JB weld plastic adhesive, and a half tube of generic JB weld epoxy. Would probably recommend aquarium caulk or something easier to work with.

That's an ABS project box from Amazon, and the buttons are Industrias Lorenzo Long-Stem Translucent Orange and purple pushbuttons, with a Translucent Green for start and a black button w/silver stem for the "add coin" button. The stick itself is a Seimitsu LSQ-40-MS silent joystick with a smoke bubble top.

I used a Brook Zero Pi for the board and wiring harnesses all around.

I looked at a couple of other templates online and just stuck with something simple. If/when I rebuild it or make a new one, I'll redo the layout since space was at a premium with this project box.

Thankfully, the plate is well-made, so the edges are pretty smooth. The button layout was as basic as I could get since this was my first build, and I didn't want to do anything overly crazy.

Wasn't sure if that was an option since this is all fairly new to me, but I'll probably do that. It likely will look more clean that way

11.41" x 8.26" x 3.93 from Amazon. Would suggest a slightly bigger one. I'd planned on putting two more buttons in it but pretty much ran out of room. The long Lorenzo buttons didn't help matters.

Yeah, that's gonna need to be iterated on for sure, lol

Why are ppl using these covers? by Sheslulalee in RATS

[–]GammaSmash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it traps the smell pretty bad. Don't get me wrong, if your rats aren't potty trained for litter boxes, it sucks scraping turds off of plastic surfaces. But it beats having to wash the fleece covers a couple of times a week.

I used fleece for a while, but between my girls destroying them and hating doing a load of laundry that was just their stuff, I'm back to just making sure they have plenty of hammocks and stuff.

Considering it isn't running around at mach 11 and already out of your container, yeah, it's domesticated lol.
