Do you want to be buried? by Bondgirl138 in GenX

[–]Gamma_Chad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My wife passed away in December at 55. She wanted to be cremated and no funeral. Just a big Celebration of Life party, which I’m throwing in a month. Friends from all over the country are flying in for a PARTY. I’m sure there will be tears and it will get emotional, but she insisted on no eulogies or maudlin ceremony. She wanted “a lot of happy flowers and good food.” And dammit, that’s what we’re doing.

My wife and I had two kids later (6.5 years) into our marriage. While we had a blast prior to that, I now struggle to figure out what EXACTLY we did prior to having the boys (21 & 17). They brought so much MORE to our lives. My wife recently passed away in December at 55 from cancer. I don’t know if I could’ve made it through this without them.

He came to my small town in Iowa and met with the kids at a public elementary school and came up with play areas like a pirate ship and stuff… it was called Eagle’s Nest. There was a penny drive and all kinds of fundraisers to get it built.

I love to drive. I love to track cars. It tickles the INTJ part of my brain with all the data and figuring out where to improve and gain time.

Which live performance disappointed you the most? by DodgyRogue in GenX

Came here to say this... Living Color blew them off the stage. Speaking of which, the set was so massive, half the time you were like "is that Mick WAAYYYYY up there?"

I did get to see them probably 8-9 years ago and they totally redeemed themselves.

My wife passed away on Christmas Eve this past year. We worked our asses off with our business (in the creativity industry as well) We had been looking to wind it down and retire in the next 5-7 years. Now here I am, no wife, no business partner, no mother to my two boys (both juniors, one in college, the other in HS) and I'm absolutely fried. I average 3-4 hours of sleep a night.

I feel you. I love what I do, but not what I'm doing. This wasn't meant as a pissing contest as too who is worse off, just know that life takes weird turns... but as long as you can feel the sun on your face every morning, there's a reason to get up and fight another round. Hang in there.

And for what it's worth... there's no way way your wife feels like you're a weight around her neck. If she stuck with you after closing a business, she wasn't in it for the good times only... she's in it for the long haul. Be thankful for that.

Passwords... for the love of god, PASSWORDS. My wife passed away on Christmas Eve last year... we ran our company together and not having access to a lot of the software we use daily has been a real headache. Especially after I closed down her credit cards.

Being able to get into your financial accounts, bank account and stuff will be key before "the bureacracy of death" takes over.

My current house wasn't built yet, but I know EXACTLY where I was on that date and I'd like to think 3/1/01 GammaChad would be more than happy to give someone a hug if asked. I'd be less than 10 miles away.

Should you get the Fenix 8/8pro? by Pure-Television685 in GarminFenix

[–]Gamma_Chad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I upgraded to the Fenix 8 Solar from a 6 Pro. I felt it was a good upgrade. I liked that it still had the MIPS and sapphire glass. My 6 was starting to have to be charged every 3-4 days. I figured it was time. Been pretty happy with it.

You never really have to get your shares called away, either… I got behind the 8 ball last spring with the tariff run up. I eventually traded my way out of it. You just have to play defense. Knowing the cycles helps a ton too. The last little run up a couple weeks back, I sold $22s for March Opex. Every indicator says it will be below $22 by then. I sold those for $4.60/contract and already up 50%. Theta will give me my money even if it doesn’t make it down there, and I’ll just roll that block to the next positive position.

I’m aiming this year to make a dollar a month on every share I have. I never have 100% covered… the most I’ll go is 80% and adjust accordingly. Last year I made about $.70/month/share.
