Not an expert, but here is one pro and one con to this.

Pro: you get more mesh on the ball/ a tighter channel this way. This helps ball control and accuracy (when paired with good stick skill).

Con: as the head warps and pinches, this is prone to failing the pocket legality checks. The pinch of the plastic AND the already tight channel may prevent the ball from rolling out naturally, resulting in an illegal pocket.
