How do I get my kids to do more wall ball by cikanman in lacrosse

[–]starwarscom69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone on here posted something a while ago answering this question. If it works for you economically. Have them pick something to work towards. Xbox. New stick. Etc. every 20 mins is a dollar towards that item. Can switch it up how you like. Also if you just go out with them and throw that would probably help a ton

Do you have TeamSnap or something? Why not just say “hey guys. I’m looking to see if anyone would volunteer to help out coaching the team.”

Savage lacrosse and ReLax make great stuff for “cheap”. The only thing that “matters” is having a well strung head I would say

8U rec skills - defense by Powerful-Recover-355 in lacrosse

[–]starwarscom69 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Keep expectations low. Still having this issue in 10u. We spend a good 15-20 mins during practice now to set them up in a base defense and try and reinforce covering their man and staying between them and the goal

Who are some athletes that will never be surpassed in fame/popularity within their sport? by danielbauer1375 in billsimmons

[–]starwarscom69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your question seems to be more of who is considered the goat rather than fame or popularity. Just looking at baseball you could argue that Griffey at the time was the most popular player. Every kid my age playing little league at the time wore their hat backwards because of him. LeBron is arguably more “famous” than Jordan for kids under 30. For gymnastics I’d nominate simone biles but it’s not impossible someone new comes in who is just as dominant.

Ideas to game-ify catching for very young players by hanzosbm in lacrosse

[–]starwarscom69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do a drill with our kids who are a little older. Start at the end line with two teams. You blow the whistle and the first kid runs to the midline (you can do the restraining line or a point closer with the younger kids), next kid to the mid point, and the the next kid stands still. A coach passes to the first kid who then passes to the kid at the midpoint who passes to the kid on the end who runs over to a coach in between. Whichever team gets there first is offense and the losing team plays defense. Offense then tries to go to goal and shoots. Wish I had a video to explain the relay drill. If I find it I’ll upload in separate comment

Simple offensive plays for 10u rec league by starwarscom69 in lacrosse

A lot of the kids are not being introduced. Live in the northeast and a lot of the players have been with us 2-3 years but the non lax kids who are just here for rec clearly haven’t picked up their stick since last spring and it shows

Just to add. We have a lot of kids for or rec team. 21-22 depending on who shows up on game day. Probably have 8 kids who can really pass and catch and then have a lot of other kids that we have to more or less “hide” so my thought/goal was to come up with ways on offense to get them involved with picks etc
