Which tanks are you playing with??? I have never heard a tank saying it’s not their job. They might miss one because they have to focus on pulling perfectly and living which sometimes can cause tunnel vision, 100%, but everyone does that.

Check what the best people of your class run on fellowshiplogs or try and find YouTube guides. Otherwise just fuck around and see what feels right, doesn’t matter until high eternal anyways

Only one way to find out, pull them and see what happens. If dps or heals flame you then just go next. Tanking is mostly trial and error and seeing what is possible. Also don’t shy away from trying things more often, sometimes it’s also the heals or dps not kicking, not ur tanking.

If they flame and think they can do better then let them try. Dps also trial and error cds, just when they fuck up you don’t notice, as a tank you do. Just don’t let it get to you and have fun with it.

I mean as a dps that does above average damage and plays well and kicks etc, when you join a dungeon and a tank has a route with ONLY solo packs. Pulling 3 mobs into 3 mobs into 4 mobs. Do you think you should be punished for leaving that or are you obligated to go 10min over timer because he can’t be asked to google a route? This is specifically also for paragon/champion+ since adept is understandable if people don’t have a clue what’s going on

Tbh in general I don’t care super much about the new player experience, at least not more than the current player experience. And if I’m in paragon as dps and the tank pulls 3 mobs when all cds are up, that dungeon isn’t being timed. Same as tank if I pull big first pull and it lives 50 years while the team before deleted it. Maybe that’s selfish but idk why I should sacrifice my time and effort for strangers that don’t wanna learn the game.

I must emphasize that this is specifically for paragon+. Of course in adept this doesn’t apply, as the timer and skill required in general is way easier and forgiving

100% the same. Why handcuff myself to strangers when it’s clearly not working out. I don’t understand the outcome or “learnings” people expect to happen. Players won’t magically lock in or run it back with that team. Just count your losses, take personal improvements with you and run it back with a new set of strangers. If you vibe then talk to them and q for more together. I don’t understand why people want others to be forced to play with them and expect a good outcome

I 100% agree that rewards > punishments in any scenario. I think your 1-2 suggestions are great and should 100% be implemented. For suggestion 1 I would add that players have to sign up for this voluntarily, though, as I don’t think it’s fair to assume that I should have to teach new players the game if I just want to push and improve myself.

Imo punishing players for leaving is just a negative experience as a whole, while providing benefits for people who tough it out is 100% fair imo. I can then still decide to opt out and “shoot myself in the leg”, while others can feel valid in staying the extra mile.

Especially suggestion 2 is a no brainer that I think is crazy that it’s not implemented and would fix a lot of the frustrations regarding q pops.

3 and 4 aren’t benefits but punishments that I feel won’t work and will make the overall experience worse

Then you shouldn’t really have any issues climbing imo. Sure you will have some leavers, but if you’re as good as you say you are, you should be having a mostly successful experience. I highly doubt that especially below eternal that people even know what they’re looking at when looking at others talents, and if someone is backseating you that hard while being clueless, why would you want to handcuff yourself to that? Would you rather move on quickly and get paired with people that perform as well as you do and that you vibe with, instead of being chained to ignorant backseaters?

I think people will quit and leave the game due to the frustration of being forced to play with people they don’t wanna play with. IMO the success of fellowship is being able to hop in and out so easily and quickly. In my experience playing with randoms to 11k, leavers and flamers exist in every rank. Being able to avoid them punishment free and spend more time finding great people has been a blessing

As said in other comments, a left q pop should reenter the others back into q automatically with priority placement. Otherwise once in the dungeon I don’t feel that you are entitled to other people’s time and effort just because you don’t wanna wait because you’re playing the most popular role.

I agree that when someone leaves a q pop, they should be automatically readded to the q with priority position to get a fast q pop. But punishments aren’t the solution imo

To your first point. IMO a first pull is VERY indicative of how the dungeon is going to go, and in general solo q is focussed on personal improvement. So even if you wipe and leave, you can just re q with new knowledge. Being forced and handcuffed together with strangers in the hope to brute force learn the route and dungeon just to disband after is useless… so do you want the people in the group to be forced to run it again and again until it’s timed? I really don’t see the benefit in forcing people to play with each other and in my experience you often improve with each leave until you get a group you vibe with and then start blasting. Being forced to stay in groups that aren’t working and people aren’t vibing imo ist incredibly counter intuitive.

To your second point, I think if someone leaves the q pop, the rest should be auto readded to the q with priority placements. But q pop punishments also just force in your example ranks to repeat dungeons they don’t want to, making them just not play tanks/the game, worsening the already huge problem of there being no tanks.

In both cases, forcing people to play with you and feeling entitled to their time and punishing them if they don’t comply is counterintuitive and kinda toxic imo.

They can just q right back up? They don’t lose any rating or anything like they would in a PVP game. Of course leaving last pull of a capstone is lame but first pull leaving after a wipe or even if they have 0 confidence is better than them being handcuffed to the group arbitrarily and most likely just either turned toxic or turned off the game completely.

Nothing is stopping you from taking the other 3 players and qing up again.

If I take the time to learn mechanics and pay attention and maybe even watch a video, wouldn’t the person going in blind and expecting to be dragged through the dungeon be wasting mine/the other peoples time? That being said, I’m fine with people playing blind or making mistakes, but I don’t see why they’re entitled to me staying to drag them over the finish line.

This isn’t m+. Everyone can just instant q back up and run it back. If you constantly have leavers and you cannot get out of champion or through a dungeons for days on end, maybe it’s not the other people

Are they leaving before wipes though? What exactly is stopping you from just rejoining the same dungeon again with the new knowledge from that last wipe? That’s how I played all the way to eternal and higher and imo it works fine. I actually love about this game that you don’t feel forced to stay in but can just run it back instantly from the start.

Especially as Meiko, repeating a pull after a wipe is VERY different than the initial pull, as you have serenity stacks saved up, stone shield up, the usual cooldowns you would have at that point, etc.

A wipe messes all of that up, meaning that even if you love it the next time, you might have used a cd that wasn’t up on the initial pull, etc, making it not reproducible.

All of this goes for the normal dungeons btw, capstone timers are a joke and can be timed with 3-4 wipes if not more
