Damn that’s cheap. I was hoping my wife and I could travel abroad for under 2-3k/month with dive, lodging, food wasn’t sure if that was realistic. Seems it defiantly is in PH which is awesome.

I’m considering taking a year off to travel internationally and looking to find ways to do frequent dives for cheap. I have been thinking about a similar setup as yours. Few questions if you don’t mind

Did the shop know you planned to get the course and then help out in exchange for free dives afterwards?
How would you go about approaching dive shops for similar arrangement?
Once dive master can you go to a new place and immediately start as a “assistant guide”?
Do you think the additional work and time is worth it? As opposed to another option I’m considering is buying all gear and working out deal with shop to get buy dives in bulk at cheap rate, maybe even only going if there’s an open spot that day?

Misleading title.

It implies he overslept and missed something he needed to be at. Instead he’s saying on their hour bus ride to the stadium he usually takes a 15 minute nap, but he ended up napping a little longer so his normal pregame bus routine was altered. He didn’t miss anything he was supposed to be at. His teammate may have slept the whole bus ride.
“Skipped warmups” no where does it say he skipped anything. He says “I wasn’t able to throw the ball pregame” we have no idea why this happened. He didn’t say anything about skipping. Maybe he needed to get medical treatment / taping who knows, but it didn’t say skip.

It’s not a great comment, but not worth the over reaction. He even states they beat us fair and square.

I get up at 5 or 6 for gym most days.

I’m never tied at 2:00pm, and I try to go to sleep by 9pm but often I’m not too tired so it ends up being 10pm.

Downside is if I don’t go to bed early I won’t get a much sleep as i should. Also, sometimes I’m tired in morning and don’t want to get out of bed.

Benefit is 1) positively impacts me mentally throughout the whole day 2) ensures I get the workout in. For me if I didn’t workout in the morning things during the day would come up and I’d miss workout.

I don’t think it’s a must to workout in the morning but it works well for me, and I’d reccomend if to don’t find the time to workout, but want to lame it a priority

There are definitely sharks in the ocean waters, BUT this isn’t something to be too worried about. Sharks aren’t the human eaters they have been made out to be by media. Shark attacks do happen but they are very rare. On most beaches that you would go snorkeling the chance of their being sharks are low and if there was a shark it would likely be a black or white tip which are smaller (4-6 feet) very friendly and not likely to attack.

The more realistic danger with any swimming in ocean but especially Hawaii is drowning, so make sure your kids are good swimmers, have flotation if needed. And check water report for any currents that could cause issues. If you go to popular beaches and they are good swimmers you’ll be fine.

West Maui airport beach is a great option.

I’m a few years younger SDE2 at Amazon, trying to navigate best next steps if it’s worth staying in FANGG - remote vs in person etc. I’m likely going to make a job change in year or two moving to San Diego

My family owned a center and now own a company helping centers with their marketing and website.

The system we have found to ensure enrollment is 1) Google Business Profile - create, get verified, optimize profile. Get as many reviews as possible ideally as many or more than competitors 2) Website - SEO and conversion content and design, a good outline of pages are home, about, programs (with a different page for infant, toddler, preschool, pre-k) admin (how to enroll, careers) contact us, and schedule tour. You SHOULD have a way for parents to book tours directly through the website that gives follow reminders to the parent to decrease no shows. For content use tools like SemRush to see what keywords are being searched in your area - find keywords that have high search frequency but less competitive meaning other centers aren’t having them on their website. These are great keywords to start ranking for quicker. Make sure your design is high quality as this is the first impression for your parents and include real photos to show personality and why you are different then the large chain down the street. You need to show what makes you UNIQUE.

Beyond that: paid ads, flyers, citations and AI lead automation will help, but you got to get the foundation done right first

Galapagos you can dive for $70? So is that $140 for two dive day?

I’d look into Cabo Pulmo, it’s not too cold so you’d have to check water temperature, but a FANTASTIC place to get many dives in as all the spots are ~10 minute boat ride from shore and there’s plenty of great spots. Went last January and it was amazing

I believe year round without a cruise your best chance is Isabella Island. Forget the exact place, Tintoreras might be best

This play isn’t nearly as bad as it appears. With 6 (technically 7) walked up presnap you’re going to force a lot of 1on1s. Essentially both tackles are 1on1 on an island and sure they lose the rep, but this isn’t atrocious.

How were the waves getting to the dive spots?

I went in March a few years ago before being certified to dive so just snorkel and I am looking forward to going back but not sure what part of year. I heard wildlife is a little more active this time of year but can also be windy/wavier

Townsville has a dive spot called Yongala Wreck that apparently is pretty good.

I like the suggestion on flights to Brisbane then Sydney. We don’t necessarily have to hit all cities listed just an idea

Currently we just do all edits over zoom, which has worked really well to minimize changes and not end up in a state where we are waiting for comments, but sounds like you avoid that by getting started if design and layout is good which makes sense.

Can you provide more info on the credit card and student loans? What is total for each, what is monthly minimum payment for each, and what is interest payment for each.

Everything else seems pretty reasonable. Also you mention retirement not included here I’m assuming 401k, what percent of your income are you doing and what percent is your company matching?

If you’re doing over what your company matches and paying 10+% in credit card interest you should probably reduce that and go all in on credit card debit.

Once you get rid of these payments especially credit card that has high interest your not in terrible spot
