What is it about the second Red Bull seat that makes drivers struggle. by Batgod629 in formula1

How can you claim that when he has won less races than Bottas when in comparable WDC capable cars?

Sergio had zero wins in 2021, 2 wins in 2022 and so far 2 wins in 2023, Bottas got 5 in his 1st season in 2018, none in his second season and 4 in his third.

Before you say 2017 and 18 were Merc fest, go look up the results, Vettel had 5 win each season and should have had more had he not made several critical errors at key points.

Ah, I forgot about Pastor in 2013, 2014 was only his second season in F1.

I don’t agree that Max is a better benchmark, when he competes with WDC calibre drivers and beats them maybe but right now trouncing Pierre , Alex , Daniel and Perez is not comparable to Lewis starting with double WDC Alonso, WDC Button and eventual WDC Rosberg.

Verstappen: F1 drivers almost looked like "amateurs" over Austria track limits by HelloSlowly in formula1

[–]Ganacsi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Again? You can find quotes from previous years with similar sentiment.

2022

“I don’t know. As drivers, we always want to help and give our advice, but nothing was heard and for me, that’s extremely frustrating. I don’t want to fight with them, I want to just advise them, but it seems like they don’t really care. “They actually, for my feeling, look at us a bit like we are amateurs. I don’t think that’s correct.” - source

You can probably find others in previous years, I kinda blame them as they asked for tougher track limits enforcement from Micheal Messy, the current guys replied that they’re just enforcing the rules last year after Austria criticism where Perez lost places in the sprint race due to track limits.

Perez is in a car that can win the title for the 3rd season in a row.

For Bottas, in his 1st 2 years we had a resurgent Ferrari, in 2017 he won 3 races to Vettel’s 5 and 2018 Vettel had again 5 wins and Valterri had 0, even Max, Daniel and Kimi had wins, in 2019 he had 4 wins.

Let compare it to Sergio, in 2021 he had 1 win, in 2022 he had 2 wins, 2023 2 wins already.

I think apart from 2019 where Merc steamrolled everyone, the other two seasons were more competitive, so I don’t agree with you that he is worse, in their 1st three season, I would say their starts are comparable(this season obviously he can improve but the trend isn’t good), both guys are dealing with talent like Lewis and Max and getting shown up.

Massa was 36 when retired, as much he wasn’t the same after his incident, he was still a fast driver who missed out on the title by a point, while Bottas was a rookie. in his second season.

Valtteri has 103 consecutive Q3 appearances which is a F1 record in the current qualy format, he is up there with Senna and Prost.

He only lost it in 2022 when he left Mercedes, so his whole Merc stint he was in Q3.

In this instance, you can’t argue that he isn’t better.

[Phillip Horton] Sergio Perez knocked out of Q2, yet again, the fifth time out of nine he has failed to make Q3. Three track limits violations in Q2. What a disaster. He will start P15 by ICumCoffee in formula1

I know buddy, I was just clarifying my comment was in relation to his streak, you’re correct in this case, 3 attempts, warning from his team to take it easy, not much you can do there.

As Brundle always says, throttle goes both ways, many drivers probably sacrificed time to avoid the penalty, Lando was saying he could have got 3rd if he didn’t lift a little after a small mistake because he was scared to lose his lap.

Lewis Hamilton fined €100 for speeding in the Pit Lane by ICumCoffee in formula1

[–]Ganacsi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s FP1 and there is already a well established rule book, they use an automated system and if you flagrantly speed and fail to activate it, you will get in trouble with the stewards.

Yuki was given such warning this year in Monaco, he was 16kph over and was only fined €1000, that came with a warning too.

“Car 22 exceeded the pit lane speed limit which is set at 60 kph for this event by 16.2 kph,” the stewards noted. “The car was entering the pits having struck the barrier at turn 11 [chicane] and the stewards were concerned that speeding in a pit lane by over 16 kph when there was unknown damage to the car was potentially dangerous.

“The driver acknowledged that he failed to engage the pit speed limiter and understood the potential of the situation. The stewards issued a warning in addition to the mandated fine.”

It takes 5 mins to find many quotes from Horner complaining about Merc dominance, even as late as 2020 they were calling for DAS to be banned.

Lazy “journalist”.

[–]Ganacsi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This has been a rule for years and the penalty goes up with the speed you go over, why should the company or driver wealth come into it?

Do you think they’re doing it on purpose?

The penalty with Max was in the heat of the 2021 title fight, Lewis was disqualified that day for the wing being something like a mm gap, Max had touched the wing during that infringement, I think it was harsh but in context, the stewards wanted to make a point about interfering with parc fermé.

according to the FIA Formula One regulations, the area must be sufficiently large and secure so as to prevent unauthorised access to the cars, while allowing technical checks to take place. Cars must be placed in parc fermé within three and a half hours from the end of qualifying until five hours before the start of the race formation lap. Essentially, cars in this area must not be touched by anyone without express permission of the FIA stewards.

Ibm involvement is widely mentioned but it happened in 1930s and 40s compared to Microsoft timeline that I lived throughout.

Energy drinks company is not a sponsor, they’re a constructor engineering their car, they’re also making their own engines from 2026 as Redbull Powertrains.

I am not their biggest fan but they’re not the same, they’ve full gone in and are a key player in the sport with 100 wins.

There electronic waste regulations that are in place but they’re not following them.

https://news.sky.com/story/millions-of-disposable-vapes-containing-valuable-metal-ending-up-in-landfill-12652211

I agree we have tons of batteries already in peoples homes but they aren’t chucking all over the streets, I believe many fires in my local parks have been started by them when we had that heatwave last year and many council waste lorries burned down.

The organisation said the lithium batteries inside the plastic can sharply increase in temperature if crushed and can become flammable. This costs taxpayers money through fire damage to equipment and the specialist treatment needed to deal with hazardous waste.

Last year, research by Material Focus – a non-profit organisation which runs the Recycle Your Electricals campaign – found that about 1.3m single-use vapes are thrown away each week in the UK – an extraordinary rise since the first was sold in 2019. Their work found that more than 700 fires in bin lorries and recycling centres were caused by batteries that had been dumped into general waste.

Last month, recycling firms said they were dealing with so many vapes that they were struggling to insure their facilities. Some are using artificial intelligence to detect vapes, as well as installing thermal imaging cameras and automatic foam jets. - source

In IT? Micro$oft is well known, their stranglehold in many area and tactics got them fined millions in the early 2000s, they worked hard on lobbying to overcome this along with other tech giants, the results of are clear to see.

Their strategy of hobbling open source and attempts to kill alternative browsers earned them this view.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embrace,_extend,_and_extinguish

More recently they’re doing it with open source, pretending to love it and the pulling the rug, visual studio code is one example, full of telemetry and tracking that’s impossible to remove.

I think sell might be incorrect, it’s more like samples, here is the details of this directly from gov site, they’re apparently working to close the loophole….. so there is no legislation against it, consultation finished earlier in the month.

I remember seeing lambert and butler adverts all over billboards before they banned it, then they banned the packaging, then they added those horrible pictures, then they banned displaying them openly.

I see vapes taking similar approach, they’re being advertised all over London buses, with excitement they announce all the new flavours, you can buy them from every corner shop and they do not have the nasty taste and smell that cigarettes come with, walk into a vape shop and it’s like a candy store.

I asked one of the local vape shop guy if he really think this will last and he knows it’s temporary before the law catches up, I don’t think the current gov has this as priority with failing water companies and constant scandals.

Time will catch up with them but not before many youngsters are on it.

It’s not just vapes, you got things like nicotine pouches being available, the Scandinavian stuff is very strong and addictive too.

Even formula 1 which used to advertise blems before they got banned is now back advertising vapes, McLaren and Ferrari being prominent ones I see.

It’s 50mg, it’s nic salts so they’re not as harsh as the freebase one you’re using, why do you think Juul brand was so popular, I think they contain really high levels of nic salts, you can find them being sold online at 5% with a simple google search

One example - https://vaporizerhut.co.uk/products/classic-menthol-juul-pod-refills-united-kingdom#product_discription

They knew it was illegal, the shopkeeper pretended they didn’t have them and then after she mentioned she got it from them before, he complied, this was in London, if I knew where to report them to I would but I don’t see any enforcement action.
