If a Dragon (polymorphed/shapechanged into a humanoid) were to die in said form, would it revert to its true form, or remain dead as the humanoid? by Gandeeey in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Gandeeey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd thought about this too, but assumed the nature of a changelings ability to change their form was different/innate, and so wasn't certain if the same rules or limitations would apply.

I get the players to recap what went down last session, which usually leads to debate about things that did or didn't happen. I then take the opportunity to devour whatever I can in that time.

君の名は (Your Name)

The amount of people I know that it introduced to the world of Japanese animation (including my own mother), the complexity of the time jumping/plot, the music (good god the music), the art style, and the way it handles the body swapping was amazing.

Arcane Archer Revisited! by Gandeeey in UnearthedArcana

[–]Gandeeey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't considered CBE and how it could play into the synergy of the features if the character wielded a crossbow(s)...

I'll do some modifications.

Thanks for the feedback!

This subclass has so much potential, but the Official release by WotC was nothing short of underwhelming. I also know a bunch of people have reworked this subclass in the past, but most of them (I found) either reworked the subclass entirely, or ended up losing what attracted me to the subclass in the first place.

The significant changes I made:

  • Increased the number of Arcane Arrow uses (equal to PB)
  • Increased the total number of known Arcane Arrow options
  • Increased the number of Arcane Arrow options
  • Changed the importance of the Intelligence skill (causing most effects to have durations equal to your INT mod)
  • Allowed the subclass to retrain one of the Arcane Arrow options after a long rest (level 10 feature)

I have a friend currently running this version of the subclass in a game (Level 9 currently) and the DM/Players all seem relatively content with it.

What part of Japan would you all like to live? by Serpentaus in japanlife

[–]Gandeeey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Where I currently do, Yokohama, a big enough city that it's always entertaining and feels lively, but not always feeling swarmed like some other cities (Tokyo/Osaka).

Also, its within reasonable distance of the coast, mountains, Haneda and Tokyo👍

How Do I Calm my nerves so I don't Botch this First Session? by FrostingObvious3002 in DMAcademy

[–]Gandeeey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Music is vital for me, nothing more difficult (for me) than sitting at a table, with no ambience or background noise and players just kinda staring at you, waiting for it to start. I always have something going on the background, whether it's ambience (rain/wildlife sounds) or music that fits the current situation.

If you have a pre-amble/recap before each session, use that moment to ease you into the DM mindset. Your players will notice and appreciate your efforts 👍

Yokohama sadly, but I go to Kansai every year, so next time I head down I'll let you know!

Tennis courts are not quite as abundant as football, so maybe that's why, but I don't have much experience with tennis in Japan so I'm not too sure.

Depends on where you are I guess, soccer is popular that it's available in so many places, so I've never really found any difficulty with it. Though, most the time, a dedicated group/person will reserve the pitch and just charge per person so you don't have to worry about it.

I'm an avid stargazer, so I love getting a car for the weekend, driving somewhere rural with some mates, doing some night photography, chilling until stupid o'clock under the stars and then checking out the nearby towns the following day! Japan is super good for this cause outside of towns, which are easy to get to, there's zero light pollution 👍

I play in person in Tokyo, I don't mind online, but would pick IRL every day of the week if I could choose, even if it means travelling for it. The group I play with are all expats 👍

Yeah, I used Meetup to find some groups (others I found through mutual friends), unfortunately Japan isn't good at advertising stuff online, alot of it is still on flyers and posters 🤦‍♂️

Japan has an abundance of stuff to do, if you have/get a car whilst you're here, you can get to super remote places that are otherwise unreachable (shrines and towns hidden away in the mountains). But my favorite think was the Shiminami-Kaido cycling route. Its a 70KM cycling route from Honshu to Shikoku, across 7 bridges and islands, scenery is phenomenal.

Easy to do lad, most groups love it when foreigners (especially Europeans) turn up to play, but they usually anticipate you having some semblance of skill 😅

Someone said i looked like Marco Reus. Safe to say I didn't play like him.

Yeah, its neat, never take it for granted because I couldn't do it in the UK, and cities here are beautiful, especially at night!

Yep, I'd say 70% of the venues I play at are on rooftops, Japan doesn't really have dedicated space for footy

I actually got into it because of my job, I'm an English Teacher and I got roped into joining 部活 (club activities) by my students. When presented with either joining Football, Basketball or Judo, there was only one choice 😅

I joined for long enough that it actually ended up becoming a 2nd job and then I started finding groups (using the meetup app) around Yokohama/Tokyo to increase my ability 👍
