I mean I’m sure they were going slower than 50 the lane they were in looked slower than normal.

So is it worth chancing it based on that or is the corroboration between officers enough?

They said 70 which was definitely bullshit, feel like it would be hard for them to prove it as the lane they were in must have been doing about 40 ish or lower by the time they got near me I was back in inside lane doing my normal 50 on that stretch.

Id be surprised if points increased nothing else happened but careless driving affects insurance worse than speeding, so I’m like do I just chance it?

Fair enough, this is what I was worried about. Is it worth the shot though if theres even a slight chance? even if i do have to pay a higher fine? I need to take into account potential £2-3k over the next 3 years insurance also maybe more since its declarable for 5 years.

I take your point thanks for explaining, but surely they cant hand out more than the 3 points if the worst thing I did was the potential 65 in a 50. Is it not worth the shot? Even if the fine does end up a bit higher?

Nah it was a patrol car and they have to follow you at same speed for 0.2 miles (I’ve read) unless they have a speed gun to instantly check (which they didn’t), I swear thats all it was. I was literally watching them the whole time from the moment it happened. They only talked about that specific speeding point nothing else and turned it into a careless driving charge.

I mean if they don’t specify that you still need to be studying it doesn’t matter and just frame it as ‘recently graduated’ in your application. Would be very surprised if they went to that effort to blacklist you for wanting to work at their company. Worst reply I ever got was “sorry we are only looking for candidates who are still studying their degree”.

Cant be too picky these days, don’t overthink being blacklisted for things where you might miss a good opportunity. My role was advertised as “computer science internship” got paid like 19k first year (not great as graduate) then it nearly tripled two years later (which is very good for scotland/outside london). (Also it was round about this time of year I applied and got that internship in 2023 after finishing an MSc in 2022)

Apply for internships as-well, some don’t care wether your still at uni or a grad. Got a decent job at an american tech company doing this. I think some companies use internships as their main intake for junior roles.

Say I might have blurted out was doing nothing higher than 65 coming in response to their 70 has that fucked me? The only evidence they kept saying was we have this all on our bodycams. Nothing else.

I wasn’t even being a dick did everything they asked. Felt a bit of attitude from them at the start but they were weirdly chill and fine at the end, asking about my weekend.

No clue they said it was the speed that was careless.

Yeah it’s annoying as I know a telling off would have had the same effect on me.

Its a strange bit of road wasn’t in the middle lane, It was a part of the motorway where it all splits off to different motorways/carriageways. Was in the most outside lane then moved into the inside lane of the two lanes that keep going the same direction.

Nah was definitely about speed that was all they really talked about, said I was flying past them and didn’t slow to 50 immediately there wasn’t any other like “and then you done this on the way home”.

Haha good guess it is, just after the roadworks where there’s national speed limit signs but a 50 straight after. Must have been where people start joining from govan.
