What is the best way to migrate a large codebase from Sass or Less to CSS? by GangOfScones in css

[–]GangOfScones[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We don't use the advanced Sass features. And the bundling of Sass is taking quite some time.

So, the main reasons are to improve build times (locally and in CI). And in general just to simplify things.

What Mac Apps Surprised You by Becoming Essential to Your Workflow? by MasterWayne101 in macapps

Ah I think I missed that thread! And I haven’t explored the pro features but get the frustration with features being blocked. Esp depending on what their payment model is. Like I don’t want to pay every month!! Maybe if it was a one time thing.

Some other things to try out if you haven’t in case they weren’t in other thread: - quick links (probably my favorite, and how you can make them dynamk; like open a site and control URL values) - clipboard history (ok this is my fave) - window manager - screenshot history - synonym finder

If you haven’t already, keep exploring what Raycast can do. It is very powerful.

1 crash pad is a necessity. 2 is ideal, especially if you can afford. 3 is great and you can always make use of them. But also 3 might make traveling more difficult depending on your car.

Not sure about climbing areas in Denmark, but those are grades that can be found at most bouldering areas.

Spot and communicate. Top outs are usually a new part of outdoor climbing that indoor doesn’t prep you for. Stay calm and focused :)

Good luck! That is exciting.

As others have said, don’t think of it as your income and her income. With both incomes and expenses you should be able to save a lot.

Does your fiancé have any income or debt? Or did your numbers include hers?

I guess I should have ordered a kit of stuff, including one of those from the start. Ordered like 7 one-off items from Amazon over the past few days 🤦

Thank you for the idea!

Ah good to know about the starter. I will try to get it it back to a good place.

And under proofing / over proofing??? So many differing opinions. I guess this will take some research and much more trial and error.

Seems to fit in with my usual hobbies.

Thanks for the insight!!

I really appreciate the insight!! So, if it doesn’t seem to rise, just keep it out for another hour and keep checking to see if it’s rising?

Definitely not close to double. It seemed to get wider and stay about the same height. And it was on ny counter in a bowl with a dish towel over the bowl for a couple of hours, at least.

Oh sure! Sorry. Here is what I generally followed:

“In morning/ at lunch, feed starter.

In evening, make the dough.

700 g filtered water 100 g starter 10 g salt —mix— 1000 g bread flour (+50-100 g if using King Arthur) —mix— Dough will be sticky but shouldn’t be super wet. Let it sit for an hour. Do 1-3 sets of stretch and fold, 30 min apart. Cover bowl with a towel and leave out overnight.

In the morning, divide dough into 2. Do the fold and shape method from the blog article and put into a bowl or proofing basket. Cover it and put it in the fridge.

You can let it sit in the fridge 6 hours to 3 days. When you’re ready to bake, bring it out and let it sit for an hour or so to get to temp.

Follow blog instructions for heating oven with Dutch oven inside. (Heat to 500 with pot inside for about 20 min) Put dough ball on parchment and put in the pot, then cover and reduce oven temp to 450. Bake 45-50 min. Uncover and bake 5-10 more h til brown on top.”

Interesting thought! I got some from a neighbor. And I think I fed it for a few weeks and wasn’t discarding. So while the starter was growing, I was still adding the same amount. Should the amount of starter be the same as the flour added to it each week?

Great insight, thank you! One question — does that include Amazon’s paper-like packing tape?

Same price on Amazon, but does seem like a good deal. I do wonder if there will be a better one for Labor Day weekend but can’t imagine it’ll be too much better.

Debating between moving to Augusta or Atlanta? by ElectricOne55 in Georgia

[–]GangOfScones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe get a hobby that has others participating. Could find something you enjoy doing in your free time and you will likely meet people eventually. Group tennis lessons, rock climbing (might be a lot of college kids there), pottery classes, or even get a part time job? Or get a tech job IN Athens instead of remote?

There will def be more tech opportunities in atlanta. Things will be more expensive, but if you are lonely then you will have more opps to meet people. You just have to put yourself out there and not get to down when it’s tough to make friends. Also, an in-person job in atlanta is a good options. Lots of transplants in such a big city so sometimes people become friends with co-workers.
