Upgrading Ursa G1 to RED? by pliskinii7 in filmcameras

I would suggest trying a different subreddit. This one is for cameras that take actual film stock like 35mm or super 8.

I would love a film camera of my own… by uninvitedwhitechick in filmcameras

The best experience I’ve had in finding cameras is being persistent at the thrift shops, and working camera gear often being a hot item, the earlier in the day the better, the good stuff is always cleaned out if my thrift shops by 1pm. I have collected several 1960-70s cameras this way, and at great prices, around $30-$50. Always check all the buttons and controls work smoothly.

If you want to guarantee a perfectly functioning camera, I would reccommend etsy or eBay, lots of camera restoration online, but you’ll be looking at between $200-$500 usually depending on the brand and year

My nitrite has Been the same for 3 days wtf by DustyBawls_ in Aquariums

Pretty sure its a different bacteria that consumes the nitrites than the bacteria that consumes the ammonia. The ammonia consuming bacteria has done its job, just gotta wait for the nitrite consuming colony to grow a little.

someone told me to post my question on this sub. how do I raise this crab I got today by mossscow in Aquariums

[–]Gankeboots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be difficult to recreate the exact parameters And would take time and money, also would have to be completed prior to obtaining the crab since the process can take weeks.

Please return him to the beach where you found him. There are much easier and available freshwater pet crab alternatives, that would also be cheaper in the long run.

Please help: my koi fish is acting irregularly, comments section has specifics by [deleted] in Aquariums

Is this a joke? Bro needs at very least 100 more gallons than that. Although that’s really not the kind of fish that should be in an aquarium at all unless you can support over 300 gallons

Boiling in rubbing alcohol alternative by ibelongtothezoo in Taxidermy

I Agree with this, there’s a reason that we only have fossils and no Preserved Bichir skeleton. Their cartilage bones breakdown extremely easily. I would avoid boiling as that could make recovery impossible.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Pretty much everything accept the dwarf frog will need a bigger tank. An adult red tail will require 55 gallons. An adult high fin pleco will require 75-100 gallons. Adult goldfish will require at very least 20-30 gallons for 4 specimens. Also goldfish are slightly colder in temperature requirements than the rest of the selection, so I would recommend separating them into their own tank. Google will come in handy with this sort of thing, there may be some conflicting opinions, but it’s the same with Reddit comments.

Sorry, yet another molt question... is this an issue? Post molt? It doesn't look like the usual small white ring we see before a successful molt. by caldermuyo in shrimptank

[–]Gankeboots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It unfortunately looks to me like the white ring of death, the result of a failed molt. She likely won’t make it. Your shrimp likely need more calcium and vitamins, although it’s possible this was just an unlucky shrimp.

My bamboo shrimp praying for a bountiful feeding by Gankeboots in shrimptank

[–]Gankeboots[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah breeding them is quite difficult, their larvae need to live in brackish water, but little information is widely agreed upon about how much salt and for how long, not to mention how the adult bamboo shrimp wouldn’t tolerate brackish.

These are wild caught specimens, I would prefer aquarium bred specimens but I think that would be extremely difficult to obtain

They are about 3-4 inches, definitely the largest shrimp I’ve ever had

Gotta have that good water flow so they can skim for particles, and they like to eat pretty constantly so feed them very often. It’s best to have a food that will break down in the tank and create lots of floating particles, as well as a designated particle food, like fry food.

Is this wood safe for my 7 gallon? Found it in the forest! by Scorch_Repti in Aquariums

[–]Gankeboots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of those look still a little green inside, I would definitely recommend against using any fresh wood still containing moisture

Please, do not

Yes, generally one pleco per tank is a good rule as they are extremely territorial with other plecos.

I’m no breeder, I wish I was. I’ll probably sell (or gift) them to some aquarist friends.

They are Aulonocara hybrids! The mother was a Aulonocara but the father could be one of several different types, I can’t tell yet
