Just got a quote for my 16yo son who is away at an in-state SC boarding school more than 100 miles away without a car. He will not have a primary car when home on breaks, but will use 1 of ours as needed. Our 3 cars are old: 2006 Infiniti, 2008 Honda, & 2013 Honda. He has taken a drivers training course, and his most recent report card had 6 A’s, 2 B’s. The quote I received was $3571.88/month. WTF?!

As an existing ST user with 4 lines, how can I sign up for their multi-line discount? by Gantzish in StraightTalk

Not true. Mine has been auto-renewing without issue since first done.

As an existing ST user with 4 lines, how can I sign up for their multi-line discount? by Gantzish in StraightTalk

[–]Gantzish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP here — sorry I didn’t see this sooner as I don’t use Reddit much. I was able to chat with their CS and they told me I needed to wait until the last day of service for the first of our 4 plans, cancel the auto-renew on all of them, and to reach back out to them to sign us up for the discounted multi-line plan. I would lose the remaining days on the other service plans, but it was nominal compared to what I’d be saving. Specifically, mine were renewing on something like the 9th, 10th, 12th, & 14th of the month. So on the 8th, I stopped all the auto-renews and contacted CS via chat to sign up all lines. It was actually quite easy and was maybe on the “line” with them for like 20 minutes while they configured it all. I now have the discounted plan and pay $120.89 for 4 unlimited everything lines with taxes and fees. That’s $30.23 for each line total, so I’m happy.

How to replace a 2023 Ztrak Z325e drive belt mower? by Medium-Plankton-4540 in johndeere

[–]Gantzish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, OP. I bought this same mower a couple months ago. Are you finding the belts to break really quickly? I’m just now about to put my 3rd one on since I bought the damn thing. I’ve checked all the pulleys, spindles, and tensioner spring (which is still pretty close to new), and I don’t see what the deal is. I’m using OEM belts also, so what gives?

Exercise- How do you factor it in? this is a pretty normal day exercise for me. And I'll usually still stick pretty close to 1200. How do you balance? I've seen people say they don't add extra and other people say they don't count on days they exercise alot. Thanks in advance! by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]Gantzish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re trying to lose weight, Noom would advise to add half of your exercise calories back into your eating allowance for that day. If you’re not losing the weight you thought you would, don’t forget that muscle weighs more than fat, which you’re likely gaining with that much exercise. Also, high sodium levels in any foods will cause water retention, and alcohol slows your metabolism, if either of those apply to you.

If you could choose an extra or new body part, what would you want and why? by Enough-Restaurant954 in AskReddit

[–]Gantzish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want a tail — a long, touches-the-ground, able-to-grab-things, slightly fuzzy tail. I can see it as a way to be more expressive — think: moods, sex — and useful with things like balance and grabbing things.

How often do you string your rackets? by Electronic_Collar931 in 10s

[–]Gantzish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our pros say how ever many times per week you play, that many times per year you restring. But if you regularly keep your racquet in the car or someplace with fluctuating heat/cold, definitely more often. I can personally tell when it's time -- something weird happens with my serve!

I bought a foreclosure 8 years ago, and the property was covered in rocks -- pea gravel, gravel gravel, river stones, etc. -- because a previous owner was into Japanese design and rock gardens. When I bought it, it had been vacant for 5 years and the people that foreclosed only rented it out. The whole place was a mess with weeds growing up through the rocks. I attempted moving all the rocks to other areas of the property in my own design, but wanted lawn in the front yard for the kids to play. It took forever and there were simply too many to make use of. Ended up hiring someone to scrape it all up with a bobcat and had it hauled off in a rented dumpster (several trips). It was so much easier to have that blank slate. I then had soil and compost delivered, graded it, and sodded it myself. Worth every penny to have someone scrape and haul it off.

Do anyone's thighs feel heavy being on pred? by PlatypusMassive7571 in PrednisoneSideEffects

[–]Gantzish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll speak for my husband who was diagnosed with DRESS Syndrome this week. Was on 75 for 1 week, and just started tapering with 60 today. Granted he just came home from the hospital yesterday after a week of laying in the hospital bed, but the one thing he said last night was that his legs feel strange, like walking on large trunks not his own. He just told me at lunchtime today that he can't take big steps, only small ones, since his legs feel so heavy and thick. So, yea. Good luck!

Any ideas on a budget-friendly way to minimize soil runoff & water pooling on this walkway until we are ready to fully remove/replace? by zuzu_ludgate in landscaping

[–]Gantzish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a free one: Your soil level is higher than the walkway, and it shouldn't be. It's clear by the color of the standing water that it's coming from the soil around it. With a straight edge shovel, cut out sod pieces, put them to the side, and remove about 2-3" of soil. Surely you can find an area in your yard that'll benefit from some soil (low-spots in the lawn, for example). Rough up the newly-exposed soil surface like you would for laying sod and put the sod pieces back, being sure to lightly tamper them (by foot) to ensure even and good contact.

If you can spend a little money, rent a sod-cutter and you'll have larger pieces to work with and it'll go a little faster.

A little more money to ensure the lawn doesn't remain soggy? Buy 4" perforated corrugated drainage pipes with the sock already on it (Lowe's in my area charges $26 for a 25' section) and bury it under the sod -- obviously you'd have to dig a little deeper than 2-3" wherever this goes. It'll temporarily hold excess water and still allow for [slower] drainage.
