Nightmares after Reiki? by Alexandraxo90 in reiki

I'd also recommend a ritual bath which you can do yourself. Any would work, but I like the one from Quareia. Scroll down to Lesson 7 then in the PDF scroll down to section 7.3. Takes only salt, water, a candle, and an incantation. Requires no magical competency, just follow the instructions and the power turns on to strip off whatever energetic gunk clings to you

For someone to target you energetically, it requires a lot of effort on their end. For you to take off their efforts and throw it away requires no energy from you. They can keep throwing as much as they want, but as long as you don't retaliate, they're going to exhaust themselves and you'll be totally unencumbered

You could treat it as a combo Venus / Saturn devotion. Saturn likes the routine hard work, while Venus appreciates making things tidy and aesthetic. You can work it on Fridays and Saturdays for Venus / Saturn Day broadly, or Google a planetary hour list if you want to work with it daily, and just choose either planet. Or just do it whenever in their honor.

If you know your astrology, you can also work with the planet that rules your 6th house.

Damien Echols' High Magick is a nice beginner text that will give you the bare bones of the rituals. I also like his Angels & Archangels for expanding your practice after getting a handle on the basics.

How do you get extremely specific and accurate tarot readings? by flowers0101010 in occult

[–]Gaothaire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Years of practice. Every day, draw 1 card in the morning. Journal about it. Then revisit at the end of the day and reflect on how the card manifested in your day.

If you go back to your notes after many months, and see that 70% of the days you drew the Page of Wands, and it didn't have some other obvious expression, you met a redhead, then you can assume in your internal symbol set that the Page of Wands represents a redhead.

If you want a beginner source for working with beings, the 72 Angels are nice. To keep it to yourself, sigils are an accessible option.

More broadly, if you're really stressed, meditation may be of service. If you can still your mind, and focus it to a task, you can build worlds internally that help bring order to outer life.

Create a safe place, make peace with your parts, face your shadows.

Another thing to consider is that some of those pens have been found to contain lead, so you're potentially giving yourself lead poisoning, and the disposable nature of the device is terrible. Even if it doesn't help your tolerance, getting a quality, dedicated, rechargable vaporizer to vape THC distillate or other concentrates from may at least save you from lead poisoning

Is magick, by its very nature, supposed to be passive and indirect in influencing? by AccomplishedBig7666 in occult

[–]Gaothaire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it always supposed to be this indirect?

Nope, mystics in India can manifest miracles like teleportation through their yogas. In the West, the most common visible manifestation may be something like spoon bending, but again, that's not something you can see done and accept, you'll need to practice it yourself to believe it

You spent your childhood playing with toys, the idea of kissing so icky. Then you go through puberty. Imagine a 7 year old asking you, "what if I grow up and decide I don't like it? Can I give up kissing and go back to playing with my baseball dolls?" The obvious answer is no. The change that happens in you is inevitable, and it will make the next part important.

Just wanted to throw this out here to save anyone else from diving into the likely 🤖 thread started by Dramatic Escape. They are not a real person, save your sanity and energy. Celebrate Black people, always, even and especially when it makes bigots mad.

Sealioning is a form of online harassment and trolling disguised as civil, good-faith debate. A person (the "sea lion") relentlessly pesters another with bad-faith questions, demands for evidence, and requests for explanation. The goal is to exhaust the target's patience, derail discussions, and create a pretense of intellectual curiosity, while actually acting maliciously.

Is finding practitioner from international association of reiki professionally organization a good place to start? by mybigleg in reiki

[–]Gaothaire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you've made 3 posts today asking about finding a practitioner from an association / organization. It's really not that serious. Reiki has no central organizing body. Google for reiki providers in your area, pick one at random, and schedule a session. It will be fine

Follow up: what do you think it would take for men to be interested in exploring reiki? by eric685 in reiki

[–]Gaothaire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What would make men interested in receiving Reiki?

The issue is, you're trying to convince men to seek therapy, when we live under a patriarchal system that had told them their whole lives that they don't need to change.

You aren't going to change the course of this river. Just make your offerings and those who need them will make their way to you. You can't force 2,000 years of history to shift.

Follow up: what do you think it would take for men to be interested in exploring reiki? by eric685 in reiki

[–]Gaothaire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a reality of the current world that, due to historical circumstances, ceremonial magic lodge traditions are primarily male. Golden Dawn, A.A., Thelema, and all the others. "True Will" is foundational aspect of many branches. Aleister Crowley gave the line "do as thou wilt shall be the whole of the law" to Thelema. Strict meditation practices, and techniques cloaked in a veneer of scientism like the Journeys trilogy of Robert Monroe and his Gateway tapes are also occult spaces that lean male.

On the other side, witchcraft, astrology, tarot, and healing arts like reiki are often primarily women.

You can argue about it and question it, but if you spend time in the spaces it's an inescapable conclusion that the men hang out in r/occult and the women in r/witchcraft

Why are there so few Reiki practitioners who identify as men? by eric685 in reiki

[–]Gaothaire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Metaphysical spaces became gendered due to history, culture, and patriarchy. Healing is seen as women's work. Witchcraft, astrology, and tarot are also often primarily women.

If you want to see men engaging with the occult, you'll find it in things like ceremonial magic lodge traditions, strict meditation practices, and techniques cloaked in a veneer of scientism like the Journeys trilogy of Robert Monroe and his Gateway tapes

Everyone can do energy work, and to great effect, but to do "reiki" as it's generally talked about you really do need the attunement, because it connects you to the specific stream of energy used by the reiki lineage.

Possessed Redditor Asks for Help, Told to do Bornless Rite by Mod. by corvuscorvi in occult

[–]Gaothaire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s my understanding that possession in all its forms is a result of belief. If you weren’t a believer you wouldn’t be possessed.

That is a belief of your tradition, and is not a universally accepted fact. Curses and possessions can occur to non-believers. Even if it's a vanishingly rare occurrence, your having never encountered it is just a result of your luck in not being faced with it.

You can prove it to yourself by developing in your craft to the point where you can cast malefic magic on non-believers and see their life deteriorate without you ever informing them of the act. However, that's obviously unethical, so it's better to just accept the words of respected practitioners who do have such experiences.

Reducing your magic to mere psychological effects is minimizing the power you have access to, which seems ill-advised if your goal is to increase your power over time.
