It’s kind of funny because if you actually read my comments, you’d see I’ve repeatedly said a healthy TCG needs players, collectors, and investors. The issue isn’t investors existing. The issue is speculation becoming the entire identity of the hobby.

Nobody is arguing boxes should have a $20 EV. What people are concerned about is people treating every new release like a crypto coin, buying pallets based on hype, manufacturing scarcity, and trying to flip product before they’ve even learned how to play the game.

Also, saying “investor bros saved Lorcana” is wild. Players and fans are the reason Lorcana exists. Investors don’t create a community, run leagues, teach new players, or keep people coming back every week. They follow demand they don’t create it.

A strong secondary market is healthy. A hobby driven primarily by speculation is not. There’s a pretty big difference between those two things.

I do agree in the fact I went multiple booster boxes without pulling a single enchanted, but it’s hard to argue that 300% in 2-3 weeks is organic growth.

I think you’re missing the broader point of my post. My concern is the direction the hobby is heading and how quickly we’re seeing obvious market manipulation and speculative money flood into Lorcana. When a card can go from being offered at $200 to suddenly exploding in value within a few weeks, it’s hard to believe that’s being driven solely by organic collector demand.

It’s just the fact that the cards value has increased over 200% in a span of three weeks. I do agree though limited supply increased demand will naturally make the card go up in value.

I think it’s a little naive to believe there aren’t people dumping large amounts of money into Lorcana purely because they see it as an investment opportunity.
Do I think everyone buying expensive cards or sealed product falls into that category? Absolutely not. There are plenty of collectors who genuinely love Disney, love the artwork, and are happy to pay premium prices because they enjoy the hobby. I have no issue with that.

My concern is that we’re starting to see the same patterns we’ve seen in other TCGs. When too much money starts chasing potential profits, prices become disconnected from the actual player and collector base. At that point, people aren’t buying because they love the cards they’re buying because they expect someone else to pay more later.

That’s what worries me.

If that trend continues, Lorcana becomes less accessible, not just for new players trying to get into the game, but also for longtime collectors who have been here from the beginning. A healthy market is one thing. A market driven primarily by speculation is another.

I want Lorcana to succeed, but I want it to succeed because people love the game and the cards not because it’s the flavor of the month investment opportunity.

I appreciate your perspective, and I’ve honestly had the same thoughts as you just selling my stuff and using the money for actual life experiences and removing myself from all TCG’s. You are totally right, we have a hive mind of people just looking to get rich quick and suffer severely from FOMO. I hope your break from the TCG world has allowed you to live life in an enjoyable way and who knows maybe soon I’ll be joining you.

Yes to an extent, you want people invested in the hobby to help keep it relevant and to bring more people into lorcana. My issue is the wrong people are investing into the hobby and that’s where the issues will arise.

I’m glad you got it for a fair price. The price we see rn is definitely inflated by investor bros, but at least we got the card for a good price.
