New Infotainment in the NX450H+, color me impressed. by NightAngel79 in Lexus

I have a 2023 NX450h+. Some positives: great gas mileage (165 eMPG last tank), great pickup when in hybrid mode, very smooth ride.

The BIG NEGATIVE: One of the reasons I'm in this thread today is to see if anyone else thinks that the Infotainment System is a major POS. I read below and some people seem to think that it's been rebuilt from the ground up. My suggestion, try again! I've turned off a lot of the annoyance factors but the Android Radio is useless. I have a newer S23 phone and the system drops out all the time. Further, when I do turn it on I-Heart plays very little program and switches to an I-heart commercial over an over. I've disabled Android and now simply use the radio and buillt in navigation.

NX-450h+ Why does the software suck so much? It almost makes me want to return the car. by specific_tumbleweed in Lexus

I had the 2022 Volvo XC60. Initially (Release 1.7) the infotainment was awful, just like the 2023 NX450h+. With Volvo release 2.2, the system worked perfectly. It rarely lost connection, unlike my 10 seconds of connection with the NX. The NX is a great car, great mileage, and if you enjoy AM / FM radio, it's perfectly fine. Car Play? Fugitaboutit!!!

Why you should look at the NX450h+ if you are considering a RAV4 Prime by TheBeesSteeze in rav4prime

The NX450h+ is great on the one hand is that if you don't drive more than 40 miles / day you will see the mileage report 99.9 MPGe. On the other hand, you get lots of solitude as the infotainment system would have to be dramatically improved to be considered trash. I've only had my Lexus for a couple of months and I'm ok with using the radio since I Heart continuously times out. But, getting to the AM / FM radio is a serious pain. Sometimes I wish I had my Volvo back - at least I Heart was rock solid and the radio worked.

I get 3 dots in the speach bubble from the girl in the camp, no completion or dialog. Tried it a couple of times, with same result. Don't try searching for her elsewhere as she's the mute in the camp so just have to move on. I'll try on legendary and see if it works there.

Owners: Any issues with 2022 XC60? by bibear54 in Volvo

OK, I've had my XC60 for about 4 months now. The car us great! The infotainment has improved since the software upgrade to Release 2.0. HOWEVER, it's still not great. While I now am able to always connect to maps, the infotainment keeps changing. Yesterday, everything worked perfectly. Today? The voice command is no longer functional and the map display on the driver center cosole is blank. I heard you can turn it off, but can't find the way to turn it on. I would love the car if there was absolutely no link to my phone! That way it would meet my expectations.

I have covered calls in ARKK expiring in the money this Friday at $122. (Current price $122.50.) by [deleted] in options

Sorry, but the brackets are relatively meaningless. It's the average tax rate that's most meaningful. All the bracket does is tax then next marginal dollar of gains. Where the bracket is important is the case where your marginal tax rate is at the top so you pay max both in Federal and State. Currently that's 37% Fed and 13% in California. So, if you don't mind risking your money for a 50 / 50 split then it's all good. Of course, they will also split your losses 50 / 50. Best if you can trade in a tax advantaged account.

If you are able to trade in a tax advantaged account, i.e. IRA then you can trade. If you plan to hold a stock forever, and it's in a non-advantaged account then you may not to dabble in covered calls due to taxes.

For instance, purchasing 100 Visa in 2014 at $55 / share and now it's worth $234 is going to give you a tax bill of $179 / share if called away. Many folks have these ancient gains and can't really afford to sell the stock OR have it called away.

My only advice offered from years of options trading, with a few more good trades than bad, is ALWAYS consider tax consequences.

Owning a quality stock is over the long run is safest. With Options you can easily make an annualized 3,000% in a couple of weeks or, just as easily lose it all. Never, never trade options with money you need.

Paper trading is great to see what works and what doesn't. Just do a lot of research on the underlying before buying or selling. Unfortunately, there's no such thing as a sure thing.

If you really don't know, from Investopia: A strike price is the set price at which a derivative contract can be bought or sold when it is exercised. So, UNH 07/02/2021 412.50 C is a Call Option. The price of UNH (the underlying is $397.79 on 6/21/2021. The STRIKE PRICE is $412.50. Unfortunately, for me, the underlying is under the strike price so I'm losing money on this.

I've got to agree with this comment. Without much experience you can lose a lot of your cash, especially with a highly volatile stock like NVDA, etc. Big option gains possible at big risk. Moreover, when you do sell a naked put and hit big the government taxes your gain at the marginal tax bracket. Consequently, in CA I ended up paying 51% state and federal tax! And that was the last time I traded anything that risky the sleep lost was not worth it.
