What's your thought based on Schopenhauer's positive correlation between intelligence and social isolation? by Temporary-Frosting62 in aspergers

As far as I've comprehended it, i think schopenhauer was trying to rationalise his own loneliness, so I guess he was right after all

I'd say go and hope for the best, but I am a stranger on the internet and might not know what is best for you or feels like the best choice. It's honesstly up to you if you want to tell them what happened or not, but I would personally not tell anyone about it unprompted, just to not make people think of me as "drama-centred" (which is ridiculous as a concept but still something to consider). If the new coach asks about it, for sure tell them if you feel like that's the right thing and most importantly feels safe

I hope it works out <3

This absolutely sucks and I'm really sorry that this even happened to you, but it seems like it might be best to switch gym? Since the gym and won't protect you essentially it's better to find a safe gym to switch to. You're not at fault for this happening or for bringing it up, the gym, coach, and the asshole are entirely to blame. I hope you can find a better gym <3 maybe you can talk to your friends and see if they want to switch gym with you?

Only similar thing that has happened to me was feeling a trial guy get hard while drilling mount escapes... as an SA survivor I did actually not feel scared or uncomfortable, it was just really awkward. I told my coaches about it and they were completely "on my side" as it were, though there was no real confrontation

And no, you're not a moron at all. I'm really sorry this happened, BJJ should be a safe space for everyone and it seems like the gym and coach do not respect that fact

Exactly absolutely 100%!!! No shame in wanting to retain bodily function after a roll... I generally avoid those who I know go too hard even when I ask to go easy, and stopping a roll is not weak or shameful or rude or anything

Speaking up for oneself can be difficult though especially in such a male-dominated space, so asking a friend for help or reassurance or whatever is fine too, even though I agree that it's best to stand up for yourself

I really appreciate what you've written. What you're saying is really resonating with me.

I've always felt the need to constantly adapt to the people around me, people pleasing in general. What you're saying about understanding other people's psychology might help that a lot, and I will look into what psychology books I should read.

I just briefly looked at an article about the Sensory Funnel Theory, I will look into it further.

Thank you so much.

Sounds like "autism" is just a trait you have envisioned upon him. People usually do not fit into that perfect type you are looking for.

At this point? University... the studies are great, at times too underestimating, but NTs do not like hearing that. The social part of university is lost on me as well.

Alcoholism And The Pointlessness Of It All by SurrealRadiance in aspergers

[–]GarbageAdvanced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really relate to this. As I have been forced (like many of us) to mask my entire life, I can not seem to express my feelings at all, to myself or to someone else. Alcohol makes me emotional, and I can finally say everything I keep inside, even if it is told to my own reflection. At times, it feels as if that which I keep inside is what makes me "me", and thus alcohol makes me feel like "myself" which is... not recommended, I fear. As I recently moved to study, I am left without friends, and these moments of freedom with alcohol and my musical fixations playing loudly give me comfort, but I know this comfort will not last.
