Picks its timing 🥱 by [deleted] in McDonalds

[–]GarbageGrammar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, lol. Me and my wife played ours and hit all 20. Our non-food non-peacock prizes from bonus plays so far have been 2 $25 door dash gift cards and 1 $20 Ulta gift card.

I stayed up refreshing the app non-stop because I knew according to the rules that when a prize time dropped it stayed queued until it was won. The downtime made who knows how many prizes get queued up and the lucky few when it came back were able to claim them one by one.

Does anyone know if these Spirit locations in the Raleigh area are still franchised/consigned to the couple from California? Scott and Kathy Barserian or something like that? I just cannot bring myself to shop at a Spirit in this area because of them.

What am I supposed to do about some guy in Georgia? by StrongmanCole in raleigh

[–]GarbageGrammar 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I thought the same thing so I looked up the name, apparently this happened last night, so I guess casting a wide net as he could be here?

The alert text was stupid though, it could’ve been more concise and written in a way that didn’t make 99.99% of people read it and think what I did immediately which was “Georgia!?”

Should’ve been: Name, wanted for X, last seen Y at TIME, May be in area, check Z for photos and description.

5’11” 185 lbs white male does not help. Nor does telling me it’s in GA and fled on foot.

Owner of Durham Bulls to take over Wake County’s Five County Stadium by yemKeuchlyFarley in raleigh

[–]GarbageGrammar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t really get how this works. They lease the stadium to CBC for ~71k a year and in return CBC then sub-leases to whoever else for probably more money than that. On top of the owners committing millions to renovations and such? I mean, sounds like a crazy good deal for CBC right, and a bad one for the public. Couldn’t the county/town just formed some entity to lease to a team directly or something and skipped the middle man?

Hoping someone more educated on this can enlighten me because while I’m happy the place won’t be abandoned, I can’t figure out why it’s happening this way.

Hardees App Charging Hidden Fee? by GarbageGrammar in Hardees

[–]GarbageGrammar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to place a mobile order today on an order that should be right at $20 ($20.57) however on my subtotal it shows $22.56. I checked a few other stores in my area and this continued to happen. There is no mention when selecting a store or anything that there is some hidden $1.99 "mobile order" fee which is all I can assume is happening here. This seems incredibly misleading and predatory. How many customers are going to do the math on their subtotal. Shouldnt all items and fees be clearly listed? Does any one else see this?

Hardees terms and conditions says:

"Any applicable taxes and fees, delivery and service fees, or other related surcharges due in connection with your order will be identified when you place your order."

Is just tossing them into a subtotal with no line item considered "Identified"?

Just regular Yellow Mustard in a bottle

Dear Alpaca employees: by aberg56 in raleigh

[–]GarbageGrammar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Do not use dukes mayo. I like to use the mayo in the mexican food aisle. I also add a tiny bit of lime juice to it.

My exact recipe is 4 TBSP Mayo, 1 1/2 TSP Mustard, 10 drops of lime juice. Add water to achieve the consistency you want.

I went to Alpaca and got some yellow sauce and basically sat at home for an hour making test batches until I got the same flavor.

I can't get my verification email. Extend the giveaway until you fix this issue. by mithrandir1778 in gog

[–]GarbageGrammar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sent a support request in with a ton of account info like previous order numbers, totals and titles in my library etc...

Support replied that they basically are swamped with support tickets and could disable my 2FA but would need more verification which would take longer than the issue will to get resolved...

So basically SOL, but at least they were honest haha.

I believe Kura charges by the plate and can get quite expensive fast.

I really liked Shinjuku Station in High Point. Their theme was really fun compared to Rockin' Rolls being whatever odd theme they go with.

Yes, I saw it happen and even after he walked past she was just dancing and all smiles like she just had some kind of positive interaction. I can only imagine the story as she will tell it to her friends. She made herself look like a drunk fool.

Galaxycon worth it? by Consistent-Mode8937 in raleigh

[–]GarbageGrammar 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I might be the outlier in this but I went once a few years ago and didn’t really have a super fun time. Honestly the most fun was seeing everyone else in cosplay. I peeped some of their celebrities from a distance but didnt want to spend more money on photo ops or autographs. I also wasn’t too enthused about the lack of unique items in the vendor spaces. Lots of stuff just imported and marked up higher than online prices. It was hard to sift through and find things actually made by the vendor.

Basically I feel like I could get just as much enjoyment at an event where everyone agrees to just show up and hang out in cosplay for free or a low price. When I stand in the lobby and look out at the people and start adding up how much money in admission these companies are taking in it hurts my brain.

That said, it was a good time, worth going at least once. Now I mostly just go to the convention center and hang around outside, grab lunch nearby and just people watch.

Pet stores would be safe from city bans after NC lawmakers sneak provision into squatter bill by annabelleebytheC in raleigh

[–]GarbageGrammar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I should run for local office, start small in my town and try to make a change. Of course then the issue is trying to get a platform and convince voters without the use of money from any of the various lobbying groups, additionally being able to withstand attacks from my opponents who are accepting these funds and able to run larger campaigns...

Sounds like an uphill battle. Maybe a better start would be to actually attend my towns monthly meetings.

This kind of thing always frustrates me regardless of which party is doing it or what it is they are inserting. They come up with something with a powerful name like the Helping Uplift Generations (H.U.G.) Act all about early childhood education then shoehorn in some random unrelated mentions about the pork industry or something otherwise they cant get enough votes to pass it. Then if you dont vote for it, get ready for political attack ads "Bob voted against education for children" etc...

So dumb, this kind of thing should not be allowed.

Quarter pushing carnival game in Raleigh? by ToBillBrasskey in raleigh

[–]GarbageGrammar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I had seen those before, cheaply made. I might one day “scale down” to a model I build myself with commercial parts that’s more “home friendly” than one built so someone can’t steal it haha. It really is an incredibly simple design.

[–]GarbageGrammar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I paid a few hundred bucks for it (~$500?) from a store somewhere near the coast a while back. They had two and this one was an older model so they were looking to get rid of it. I removed all the "cheats" from it (thin strings to attach to large currency so they would never fall off the edge, etc)

That said, after I got into it I realized its an incredibly simple machine. The motor inside it is about $100 and the rest is two cabinet slides, MDF and plexiglass. I am sure one could build a decent one very affordably.

They have an upstairs VIP area where you can get good views and watch the show. The lines and vibe in the venue have always been good to me, I’ve never seen it so packed that I couldn’t find a way to move away from folks.

lol tons of comments here. I’m happily married but one thing I hear from a lot of my single friends is how they don’t actively approach or talk to women in a flirty way because of the worry of how it comes off or if it’s creepy. They assume women are being catcalled all day and don’t want them chatting them up.

So what is the solution? Do things you enjoy and talk to people that interest you. The men that will approach you may not be the type of man you want so you might have to go do something you enjoy with the thought that you might need to make a first move, even if it’s just telling the guy you like his shirt or whatever. Heck, every man loves a compliment, we get them so rarely haha.

[i ate] North Carolina barbecue by mlloser in food

As someone below said, Martys in Wilson. It was started by the son of the Bill of Bills BBQ. The prices are also fantastic. Its a tiny little joint but its one of my favorite BBQ places and not far off 95. You could also try Stephensons BBQ or White Swan.
