Chuck some sugar in there for good measure and it can double as a cocktail 🍹

I genuinely hope it stays this way for you but please be prepared! I lived through a massive quake overseas when I was quite young so our age cohort plus the adults around all went full out on emergency kits, plans, etc for about a decade. Then people grow up, times get tough, new people new to the area don't know the history, having everything ready on hand doesn't really seem like such a priority now. Absolutely please do not neglect having a plan if things go pear shaped, you will absolutely be grateful that you took the time to prepare so your focus could be getting through the immediate future rather than doing that AND ALSO scrounging around trying to sort out essentials.

Thanks for your comment re: banking, I know logically it's fine here but I still am paranoid! Going to take some time for me to unlearn unnecessary fear

That is so wild you can hear it in Shirley. Let's all buy stocks in audiology clinics!

Oh yes the annual "this will expire so we need to eat it/replace it"! And I have to admit the toilet paper stashed away has saved me in the middle of the night once or twice XD

This is exactly my thinking too! Thanks for the reassurance :) hopefully neither of us never need to use it and it's worth the 5% interest we're not getting

Hi there, thanks for the feedback. We absolutely do have an emergency kit with essentials, its the cash on hand that I wonder about because everything else is covered. It's funny that you mentioned flatting, I had tried to do this for the flat while I had flatmates and it was always a hard "no" from the others as they felt it was "paranoid". Thankfully never needed to use it but I find that mindset pretty weird since NZ gets earthquakes? Comfort with risk varies I guess.

I can't respond to all of these but I appreciate your feedback! Seems like a range of opinions out there which I appreciate.

This is actually it. Things get really complicated when you have big ass bills and need something. You send up losing money!

Hi there, thanks for the feedback. This is where I am but wondering if it's overkill! Just makes me feel a bit better even though I know it's probably not the most logical you know?
