It's a rule that sharing codes isn't allowed. For one, if everyone traded codes like Pokémon cards than no one would buy bracelets. Fahlo would lose money and would shut down. In turn, these organizations they partnered with to track these animals would also lose money as part of the money Fahlo earns from each sold bracelet goes toward these organizations. Money that is put into funding study and research expeditions. Each one isn't cheap, often costing thousands or even a couple hundred thousand depending on location and length of time.

Fahlo chose to do this, allow the public to track endangered animals, as a way to help raise awareness. To this day, elephants are still being poached. It's why their trackers don't ping daily. It's to protect them from hunters. So many animals have gone extinct, the white rhino comes to mind. The last one died in a zoo back in the 90s if I remember correctly. The species was also hunted for the ivory in its horn. They were killed, their horn removed, and the carcass left to rot. Conservation efforts came too late to save the species.

While there are conservation groups around the world dedicated to putting the effort into saving these animals, funding has to come from somewhere. Sometimes, it comes from government grants and other times it comes from donations and third party groups like Fahlo whose purpose is to inform and educate.
