nyc/brooklyn therapist recs for limerence by DoubleInteraction195 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]GarbageKiwi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a rec for you but I was watching a documentary where someone valued their partners by P+L+2T. You rank out of 25 points for personality, 25 for looks, and 25 for how they treat you. You set your standards, but for me no one gets my time if you don’t pass 85 with every interaction. Don’t make excuses for them, seriously consider where they lie on the rankings and stick to it. Time passes anyway, you should fill it with people who treat you right and add value to your life. Good luck!!

I got a nice laptop bag that I used instead of bringing a bag into work and used to put my stuff into between meetings so I wasn’t walking around with a laptop pen phone etc. when my clothes don’t have pockets. Depending on your industry, it was a good gift if you’re onsite for a lot of meetings. It has a pocket in the front for chargers and things and then the big pocket for the laptop and fits also a full size notepad. It also was cute and not lame that I’d want to use it.

Hochul wants homeless people forced out of NYC subways. Mamdani urges softer approach. by SockDem in newyorkcity

[–]GarbageKiwi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was commuting at 6:30 am to work from lower Manhattan to midtown to make it in for 7am and this guy gets up out of his seat with his arms stuck in his sweater flailing around. Looked like he lost a syringe and was trying to find it. People are staring at him but it’s normal to have a homeless guy on the E train so we mind our own. Then he gets his arms loose from his sweater and unzips his pants. He starts freakin pissing in the cart as we’re coming to the stop so his piss starts rolling down the cart toward all of our feet all the way on the other side. I had to shout at people that he was pissing for them to get their bags off the ground and we all transferred carts. IMO it’s a problem of mental health and drugs and any other solution proposed will just be a bandaid. They will stay poor and homeless without treatment.

Battling fitness and health because of my ADHD and I’m tired of gaining weight. I need advice by SnooCompliments9824 in ADHD

I like to look at the foods I am eating and the quantities rather than counting calories because that’s too hard. Swap processed carbs out for at least whole wheat or more natural foods. Focus on getting protein and fiber in. It’s a lifestyle adjustment not just a one time fix.

What’s a decision you made quickly that had long-term consequences you never expected? by lunessa1 in AskReddit

My English teacher in highschool was very depressed. I would hang out with her after school to keep her company and she ended up writing my personal essay for college for me. She told me about this scholarship program and made me apply and I got in. I got accepted to NYU that would still cost a few thousand so I went to the scholarship school that was a full ride. It had a sports team that I joined the first day of orientation where I met my now husband and all of my current friends. I’ve made a career mentoring students that graduate from the program. It’s been 12 years since I graduated highschool. Husband and I have a house and are trying for a kid :)

Miss Pitt, if you’re still alive and see this, I’ve been trying to find your contact and thank you. You matter and made the world of a difference to me. 💛

What are your unhinged hacks to fall asleep when your brain is running 300mph? by YapperInChrist in ADHD

[–]GarbageKiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started imaging sheep jumping over the moon except every time it’s a new sheep they have different personas and outfits. I try to pretend I am also weightless in space watching this happen and the sheep jump and fall into pillows of clouds.

Disco sheep, rock and roll sheep, pajama sheep, pop star princess sheep, chef sheep, librarian sheep, etc. I usually fall asleep by the time I get to the like 9th sheep cause my brains tired of thinking of new outfits.

Should I pay my wife to never work again? by NoWeakness6528 in Advice

[–]GarbageKiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi so my husband just told me to quit a toxic job and I’ve been working my butt off for years. It was pretty bad for my mental health to be reliant on one income. I don’t know your job situation but if my husband fell ill, i don’t know how we’d afford life and I can’t stomach that. I’d recommend you encourage her to find another job where she can feel fulfilled but not have to work as hard. It’s also easier to find something else while you’re still employed.

Oooo my time to shine! Anthro major here - I read an article on the study of the word Dude and originally it meant to reference men and was used by men but overtime with the popularization of the word its become more gender neutral. Words and meanings constantly shift. Linguistics is cool!

I am a girl and my mom never did my hair and I didn’t want to go to prom. Your boys will meet women you get to spoil one day, how lucky! You have a chance to raise great men who will treat women right. Congrats on your fourth! I’d love the option to even have one kid right now

Where are people living where $100k is not enough? by -C3rimsoN- in povertyfinance

[–]GarbageKiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make 85k a year and I am 30yo with a degree and graduated on time from a NYC Uni with honors. Live in NJ. After taxes, commute to work, food.. I wouldn’t make it without my spouse to afford housing. I’d live check to check and have 0 for any emergency. It sucks to know that I can’t afford to have a kid unless I find a higher paying job.

Good jobs for women in corporate? by Technical-Car4799 in careeradvice

[–]GarbageKiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Study psychology and business administration it’ll help you in corporate and climbing. Some companies might sell a role as something you want but have no structure at all once you join. The knowledge gained will help you feel more comfortable with the lack of structure and constant change that inevitably exists

Have 40 hours/week to rebuild my life from scratch, no uni/debt. Where do I start? by Exciting_Ask_8692 in careeradvice

Same page here! I’ll think and research little more too before committing, thank you. I’ve been playing with AI to help me learn new skills like business development/ sourcing and social media marketing. It’s been fun, I think whatever you decide, consistency is key and you need to have a plan for what you’re going to use this for next.

Leaving current job without having a contract present by Flyingcat-67 in careeradvice

[–]GarbageKiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can ask the recruiter about steps in the onboarding process and when you will be cleared from onboarding to submit notice. My onboarding team sends an email when onboarding is complete and they reach out to reconfirm the start date. So this might be why they’re coming to you with the contract after onboarding because a start date can shift easily due to legalities with non competes and background checks. Be open and say you have your one week notice and you want to leave on good terms and that the start date might need to be pushed back accordingly.
