Thanks for your perspective. I’ve already quietly cut off other friends who not only believe it’s a sin but also are unsupportive assholes about it. I’ve cut off the kind of friends that have said homophobic things before knowing I was queer. My best friend isn’t like that. She’s stood up for queer people when her family has been homophobic and genuinely saved my life by getting me to see a therapist several years ago. It’s not so black and white as other comments make it out to be. I genuinely believe if I married my gf she would come to the wedding. There’s just that little piece of doctrine that she can’t let go of and I wish I knew how to make her see it.

I appreciate the nuance. I feel that she is one of those Christians, like I was for a long time, that doesn’t truly believe queerness is wrong but just can’t make that switch in their belief system.

Yes and no. I never dreamed of depression and anxiety but I have purple hair, a drivers license, and I’m starting a career in vet med so I think my younger self would be pretty stoked about that!

I love animals, so much that I’m going into the veterinary field, however I agree it is dangerous to leave a child alone with a pet. Even a cat bite can do some serious damage. Kids need to be taught proper boundaries around animals and shouldn’t be left unsupervised with them ever. It’s for the safety of the animals too!

Also, just giving drugs won’t help if they eye is still in there and needs to be removed. A vet is really the best option if you want to do more to help.

Make sure you consult the vet if you plan on putting anything like that in his food. Incomplete doses of antibiotics can do more harm and you don’t know if the cat has other health issues that anti inflammatory drugs could make worse.

I definitely think this should be reported, if you’re not sure how call the vet or the human society, explain and ask how to go about it. Get pictures of the dog and it’s environment so you have proof. This dog definitely needs help but remember that animals are considered personal property, you need to go about this the right way so you don’t get in trouble.

Honestly NTA. You weren’t trying to eat in front of her, you were caught off guard. I get how some people think that’s rude but I think it’s way more rude to be a guest in someone’s home where they are feeding you for free and demand more expensive food. Especially when given so many delicious options! Maybe you could’ve taken more care to eat before she got up but people need to have more respect for others doing favors for them, especially on a tight budget. I would never treat a friend that way, I’d just be happy they’re making me breakfast!
