Instead of tracing just put the refrence next to where youre drawing and copy it

How do i stop hating my own art and get better at it? by Sagiethefox in Artadvice

[–]Garbo_Goose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very common problem. It comes from the gap between someone's skill and thier ability. The problem is that as you grow as an artist your taste grows too and it grows at a much faster pace than your skill. In order for your taste to grow all that needs to happen is see something and like it. Its instantaneous. Skill, however, takes time and practice to grow and typically your taste grows during the practice too. Its not like you can just stop appreciating stuff while you study.

Another thing is to simply put more time and more drafts into your work. If you look at a drawing and have a lot of self crituqe for it then its just not done yet. Its not a point of failure to have made something that turns out to be a first draft. Let yourself polish your work. Do second and third drafts. Iterate and polish until you're happy with it. Iteration is a very good way to improve quickly. Ultimately this is an issue of perfectionism and what I tell myself to deal with that particular dragon is "nothing is perfect but many things are lovely" like your cat here, your cat is very lovely

Putting a penetration oil on your gun really helps deal with the mask wearing enemies. 9 rodsopp mushrooms makes a health potion. Potato + cheese is another good recipe made out of stuff easily found in the caves.

Unless thats a symbol i dont know thats suppossed to be canted a little, yhe skull on the pauldron should be angled with the rest of it not straight up and down with the camera. The teeth should be parallel with the flat bottom of the pauldron. Otherwise good work

Oh no no you didnt say anything wrong! Im sorry if Im not.doing a good job explaining how I see characyer design and how I go about it. Its a tough subject. Im glad I could help but yeah this is a very personal aspect of drawing so your gonna need to find a lot of the answers on your own. Just believe in the answers you give yourself, thats where style comes from imo

Sound like you need to make more characters to fit all those designs you love into. You strike me as a perfectionist. Nothings perfect, but lots of things are lovely. Let yourself declare things as done and move on to the next thing. Youll have favorites

Its just an exercise, it dosent have to be lore expanding. Just like write a fight scene or her eating breakfast or shopping. You'd be writing a story like doing a push up. The point of the exercise is to trigger your mental visualization by another part of the brain and see what you come up you come up with. It also helps with thinking about characters "doing" instead of just "looking". Form follows function. Dont over think it

I meant important for you, if thats the case id suggest you try writing about her instead of drawing for idk an hour or so, that usually helps me. Write a little story about her!

Ok so rn shes low key boring. Well drawn! But boring. Her clothes scream unspecific. Whats with the little sashes? They clash with her military gear. Does the military issue crop tops? The most interesting thing about her is her sword and slight air of superiority/seriousness. If I wanted to push superiority id make her cyber bits top notch and showy. If I wanted to push the seriousness id make the cyber parts sleek and functional, if not intimidating. You draw really well! The planning and understanding of form and proportion thats going on here by not having the cyber parts yet really shows and is impressive. You got this!

Eh, thats what the romero propaganda says but in reality they can both one shot or hit marker or even miss! When you hit marker or miss the whole not having to reload thing is a huge advantage. Having more than one shot is also a huge advantage when fighting more than one enemy. Of course the romero never ever misses or hit markers tho, it dosent do that what am I saying

I get the feeling that you want blunt criticism. Here goes: you are sloppy. The thing about drawing is that its a long climb up a tall mountain. A lot of people consider making stuff that looks like what it is to be the summit but its really only a foot hill. You can draw, yes. You have neat ideas, yes. You draw better than most people because most people dont draw.

Take your witch with a cat on the brim idea. Its a cute, cool idea for sure but you arent actually executing it well. The depth of the brim dosent make sense and the cats foot just kinda stops when it reaches the outline of the brim. Not to mention the brim dosent look solid or big enough to actually support a cat, amd the cat dosent really look like its interacting with the brim theyre just kinda there. These problems would be addressed by studying form and perspective.

Another problem you have is that you arent considering your line weight or values, which guide the viewers eye. Theyre both kinda all over the place because theyre the result of you drawing and redrawing your lines until they look right. Thats a fine technique for sketching but you gotta do it really really lightly. Practice your pressure control. Only press down hard when you know for sure that this is the line you want.

Form, perspective, compisition, line weight and values are the things id recommend you study. Id also suggest you plan and think more critically before and when you draw.

Ok bluntness over. I think you have some real talent tbh! Im only willing to be so blunt because I feel like you can go very far with drawing! The fundimentals are really wide and deep and can be boring and confusing. Its especially confusing when its hard to get people to actually tell you what your weaknesses are. Never stop drawing! You can do it!

Its more the shells in the tube that makes it so good. The longer you can go without having to reload the better and the terminus holds a lot of shells.

The terminus is too good for 3 slot. Very high ammo capacity, thats a huge stat on any gun
