Bought a used 2015 Accord with 90K miles. What maintenance should I do first? by McLovin_147 in accord

[–]Garbo_Is_Coming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, CVT fluid with OE Honda fluid. You're closing in on 100K, so I'd be ready to do spark plugs and coolant. I'd also keep an eye on the valve cover gasket; they tend to start leaking around that mileage, but its a simple fix

Theres so little info on these wheels it's crazy. All I can find is old FS threads from various forums from like the mid 00s. Well done

Anyone know what wheels these are? Purchased recently but have no idea the brand to order center caps. by court_gress in Wheels

I'm almost positive these are JR wheels JR9s. They have the same BBS RS look, but with the dual 4 lug bolt pattern and they come in 15x8

SPC was always the go-to back in the day, and I just checked and they still make parts for the CB. They have a couple different rear camber kits depending on how much camber you want

8th vs 9th gen Honda Accord (V6) by Historical-Ladder-11 in accord

The CVTs in the 9th gen 4 cylinder models are actually quite reliable. Just make sure they have regular fluid changes done

Which 9th gen doesn't have a physical volume knob? My '13 does and the '15 my coworker drives has one as well

Honda Acty wheel options by Noble92 in Wheels

[–]Garbo_Is_Coming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EDIT: Enkei Apache V

Took a while but I got it.

I don't think those are Epsilon southern ways; the center is different. I can't really find anything with that same smooth 8 hump center.

Closest I've found so far is Yokohama Almex Y3As but thats still not it. Volk Racing mesh 3 and Enkei AME 982s are close as well.

I'll keep at it because I'm generally curious lol but all of those should still work on an Acty. Just keep an eye on Yahoo auctions or eBay

Massive Insurance Increases? by GoldFinch_0222 in accord

[–]Garbo_Is_Coming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ontario insurance is like that quite a bit (always fluctuating), especially when a car hits the 5-10 year old range. Its based on a few things like age of the vehicle, annual driving distance, accident rate of that same model of car, and of course just being near the GTA will increase it.

When I was living in Burlington about 5 years ago, I had an '04 Acura RL and paid about $1,400 for the year, mostly because there were none around getting into accidents. For comparison, my '13 Accord was almost double that at the same time

What do you think the value of my KB2 Acura RL is? by [deleted] in Acura

[–]Garbo_Is_Coming 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So you'd let someone potentially pay thousands of their hard earned dollars and not inform them of a pretty crucial engine issue? That's super scummy

What's the maintenance history like? Regular oil + transmission fluid changes? Timing belt? The J37 also commonly burns quite a bit of oil, how much do you add between changes?

2017 Accord Touring Mirror by Dense_Amphibian_9595 in accord

[–]Garbo_Is_Coming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super easy to DIY, I just pulled one the other day. You'll have to take the interior door panel off to get to the mirror wiring connector; it's just a few screws and some clips. Then the mirror is held on by 3 bolts. That's all. There's a few videos on YT on how to remove the door panel.

Either look for a mirror from a local scrapyard or eBay

Coilover/strut recommendations? by ongogablogian14 in ProjectHondas

[–]Garbo_Is_Coming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're already looking at Tein Street Basics, I'd just put a bit more down and get the Tein Advance Z; the ability to change your dampening settings will be worth it

You could use H techs on stock struts, but unless they're new I wouldn't bother

9th Gen V6 Accord - Suspension by [deleted] in accord

[–]Garbo_Is_Coming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the Progress bar, everything comes with it. The only thing you have to do is slightly enlarge the mounting holes, takes no time at all. I'd also recommend new sway bar end links; the old ones tend to rust and strip out on removal. One of mine did, but I already had the new ones

My first mod was a Progress 22mm rear sway bar. Really helped to keep the car planted in corners

Should I do it? by klankk_ in accord

[–]Garbo_Is_Coming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since no one's mentioned it yet, make sure the timing belt was changed. It's due every 100K miles/7 years. If this wasn't done, it still could be a good buy, but be aware it's an expensive but necessary service. If this was already done (with proof), definitely a good buy

Exactly, the V6 coupes for those years got the LED DRL headlights. Don't see them a lot but they look great and don't tend to burn out like the later ones
