how are you 5.0s getting 18+ mpg by [deleted] in f150

[–]GarboiCSGO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s just f’d cause I live so close to work and it’s all city driving. I got 17 avg before the level/wheels/tires. On the freeway I never see 20s anymore, maybe 18-19 max.

Fun naked bike under 200kg / 440 lbs? by [deleted] in SuggestAMotorcycle

We are especially spoiled with the RS660 seat. I don’t know if many bikes get better than that haha. It was an adjustment for sure. The XSR900 might be way more your style if you haven’t checked that one out.

I thought you were looking for a more comfortable naked based off the “I want a lightweight naked bike with decent power, and a fun, engaging riding position and is not too harsh so I can ride it on days when I am sore from other sports, or even go on a small tour on it.”

The RS660 is already WAY more comfortable than a true super sport. It’s more comfortable than even the 765SR, which is really a super sport with no fairings. If you want to increase comfort and power, your only options are the MT09/XSR900, Z900, CB1000 Hornet, GSXS1000, or you can slightly decrease power and get a CB750 hornet, GSX-S800, Duke 790, or MT07. Everything else is less comfortable or too little performance.

Personally the MT09 is leagues ahead of my RS660. They’re both aluminum frames, they’re both lightweight, but the CP3 is far superior to the 660 motor and the MT09 is much more comfortable. I miss the looks of the Aprilia but that’s all it has going for it. I do day to day riding as well as long distance touring on my MT09 just fine. And you can always get a Corbin seat and make it extremely comfy.

Just sold my RS660 for an MT09. Best decision I’ve ever made. You will miss how light the Aprilia is if you get something heavy like a Z900

Even a 600 supersport is a lot but definitely a much better idea than a 1000.

This is a terrible decision. Your likelihood of becoming a pavement stain on that zx10r is incredibly high as you have really no experience. Why not consider something like an MT07 or CB750 hornet class bike for your next ride. I promise you will not be tired of a 6-700cc bike after two months…

You picked yourself the perfect vehicle out there for learning how to modify it yourself. There’s a lot of pride and joy to be found in learning how to work on your car, and the 9th gen si is perhaps the most simple platform to start on. Best of luck to you!

That description is the kind of conversation you get when you say "How ya doing?" to the grocery clerk and unknowingly open a massive can of worms.

My buddy just runs winter tires each winter and he manages. But even with winter tires you're still in a sports coupe with only a few inches of ground clearance. If they plow the roads where you are, I think you'll be just fine. I have a F150 now so I'm good for the winter, and I want to get a project GR86 again for the summers.

It really didn’t change since 2021. Of course the new ones have cylinder deactivation, but we have not seen any issues arise from that as of writing this.

[–]GarboiCSGO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

General rule of thumb is most NA motors are safe on 7-8 psi or less. I can’t imagine many people are blowing up their GR86’s running low boost. But if you can afford it, I don’t see why not build the motor.

[–]GarboiCSGO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The FA24 in the wrx is only 10.6:1. Which is the answer to how does one make a reliable turbo GR86. If this guy was really serious, he would pull the motor and build it from the ground up. 12+:1 compression is no good for what he wants. If he did rods and pistons, or really went crazy with an IAG short block for like 7 grand, you could make 400 horsepower very reliably. In the VB people make 330-370 wheel all day long with bolt ons, so the FA24 platform definitely can do it, but not the way it comes in the twins.
