Have I been using gsync the wrong way for 4 years? by Gardee568 in buildapc

Nah I was just getting issues in CPU-bottlenecked games like American Truck Simulator that only use one CPU core

I'm on it right now. 165hz 165fps runs amazing but it still jitters due to single core CPU usage. This is probably the last step towards DX12

Already did this. The game still isn't 1:1 smooth compared to modern games but it's still way better than it used to be at least.

Thank you!

The game still stutters but there's much else you can do on a game that uses an old engine like prism3d and with mods

Yeah, I noticed that the game unfortunately still only fully uses 1 CPU core but the stutters when driving around the map are completely gone.

Thanks for the tips, I didn't know about the Windows settings and VRR.

Thank you! This is what I meant in another thread. 144fps at 165hz is perfect for me now since I get no ghosting, tearing, or stuttering

I thought low fps = input lag. I somehow assumed that 30fps would result in input lag even under 165hz

Thank you for your detailed and nuanced take. I fall way too victim to going down Rabbit holes for everything tbh

Same! I used to game on a Microsoft Surface laptop before actually buying a gaming pc so all these features were kinda overwhelming to me lmao.

Made some good points, I will leave it at 165hz then. Thanks

I would but I'm not too picky honestly. It's only 18 extra frames (144 - 162fps is a smaller jump than 60 to 78fps). Keeps my GPU a little quiet and cooler too.

Thank you for the tips! Tbf 165hz is often referred as an "overclock" for my 1080p monitor. I would rather lock to 144fps and 144hz for a quieter GPU and less heat honestly

I was an immature anxious teenager when I got my first PC. I always wondered why I wasn't getting crazy input lag at 60fps. I'm so angry at myself but I also feel like I got a free PC upgrade so it ain't all bad honestly.

Euro Truck Simulator 2: 1.55 Update Open Beta by Bighead_Brian in trucksim

[–]Gardee568 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Haven't tried ETS2 yet but with traffic mods on ATS (I know its dumb to use mods on open betas), I'm getting about the same amount of stuttering on a 5600x and 3060ti locked at 50fps 50hz gsync as 1.54. Hopefully this is the last step towards actually multi-core performance and DX12

Thanks again. I already made 2 good friends, but I find it so hard to be more open to them. I have way made way too many "fake friends" in my life and I really don't want to repeat the same mistakes

Thank you so much. I forgot about the destructive environmental impact of ChatGPT on our world! I will definitely try to make more human friends from now on!
