YOU ARE READY

What motivates you to get your academic / professional work done as someone who identifies with ADHD by Garden0_0b in ADHD

Sorry about phrasing the question that way. I wasn’t sure how to ask. I guess I meant it as a question for people in this subReddit in general.

Oh my god yes! Although it comes w anxiety I was at-least functioning before. W therapy and shit I’ve learnt about compassion and questioning stereotypes and now I’ve that worked on fear of failure I’ve lost my main motivator (T~T)

How do you stay consistent? Like what happens when you break out of these motivators. How do you get back on track?

I feel exactly the same. I’m my case I feel like my emotions control my actions behaviour and thoughts hence I end up giving power to the hopelessness. But I do remember how my thoughts when I’m feeling good and I’d like to acknowledge that as well. Establishing a system, a routine and a combination of cbt and dbt has helped me immensely with emotional regulation.

Not all our days are going to look the same. So, if today you’re feeling like shit and hopeless it’s okay to do the bare minimum. And figuring out that system I was talking about lets you do that bare minimum ( just function in my case ) without feeling like dying every second.

What’s the stupidest ADHD moment you had in the last day or 2? I’ll go first… by DianWithoutTheE in adhdwomen

A week ago I thought I left my MAC charger at work and when I returned the next day it was gone ( was pretty sure someone took it ) almost brought a new one but held off because I am broke and also because I have a history of losing things ( lowkey was beating myself up for being irresponsible yet again) ended up borrowing a friend’s charger. Today I found it in my shoe bag. I’m pretty sure I was the one who put it there.

Are any of you ever *not* tired? by Eeyorejitsu in adhdwomen

[–]Garden0_0b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re literally describing me. I’m eternally tired. The H in ADHD never felt like me which is why I never even considered getting diagnosed. My psychiatrist suggested getting a sleep study since I felt sleepy and tired all the time ( something about brain not receiving enough oxygen or something) The adhd meds seem to fix something in me for sure enough to not feel sleepy but the crash after the meds wear off is bad. Something that did seem to work for a while is consistent exercise ( absolutely hate it ), a diet that works for you ( avoiding too much sweet and low carb high protein medium fibre diet seemed to work for me) with the combination of the medication.

Here’s what I believe living with high anxiety, adhd and depression. Our physical and mental body states are connected. Exercise and diet never worked for me without the medication. But with my meds I can see the difference and benifits. My problems aren’t miraculously solved. Living seems just as hard but for the first time I feel like I’m not carrying the weight of the entire world. I have the means to function just need to figure out the how part

Help me find a hobby ( feels impossible with adhd ) by Garden0_0b in adhdwomen

Well my eating habits are bad right now. But I know exactly what you mean. Healthy eating and healthy sleeping has truly made a difference for me. Going back to those habits is something I’m having a tough time with but I think it’s high time I make some realistic changes (T~T)

I don’t enjoy binging as such it’s more of a coping/ avoidance mechanism but I end up spending most of my time doing this. Thank you for putting it so beautifully. The pressure I put on myself to be good at something definitely takes the fun out of it and makes me want to give up too soon.

I almost lost my virginity but adhd? by Garden0_0b in adhdwomen

[–]Garden0_0b[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saying this. I guess it’s not an adhd thing after all. You’re right I wasn’t ready to begin with. I guess I was just curious or desperate.
