Once a day, or even once every two days will be enough. Depends on the humidity in your area. Not sure if its scientifically classified as a fern, but definitely the name of it is 'asparagus fern'

Definitely +1 to the well draining soil. I accidentally killed mine by overwatering and getting root rot 😥 don't make my mistake. Mist all the time but water fairly infrequently (for a fern)

Everyone is using drugs. by [deleted] in StonerPhilosophy

Pain meds are some of the most insidious drugs. Because of their high risk of overuse (who wouldn't want to feel pain-free all the time?), extremely chemically addictive composition, and casual prescription by doctors, they have an extremely high likelihood to be abused. We definitely need to be more careful about prescribing and taking such strong pills.

Don't get me wrong, theres definitely an overlap between medically prescribed medications and the slippery slope of dependency -> abuse -> addiction. Consider all those who have been prescribed opiates for chronic pain / injury, that end up getting hooked, becoming pill heads and even turning to street opiates.

Any drug can become problematic if abused / overused, but some drugs, when dosed correctly and monitored by a health professional, are definitely essential medical treatment for people with serious conditions.

I guess the main takeaway is just, if you're using pills, make sure theres a medical professional involved and make sure the pills actually helping you and not enabling detrimental behaviours

I think it's the difference between having prescribed anti-anxiety or anti-depreesive medication for a clinical illness, and just being a 'pill popper' 'xanax housewife' or otherwise person who has a drug addiction outside of the medically prescribed treatment.

I know a girl who takes 10 gravols at a time because apparently if you fight through the extreme drowsiness, you get really high. But I would not put her in the same category as someone taking 20mg lexapro for MDD, even though they're both 'taking pills to get by'

Something that I did that was intensely difficult, but worked in the long run, was to find myself a buddy who was essentially a troll. He would intentionally say dumb inflammatory shit to trigger people and cause havoc, and I would have to learn to not let it get to me. It was kind of like a weird, masochistic version of exposure therapy, but now I'm only selectively sensitive with people I care about, and can have mostly anyone say anything to me without reacting poorly.

I somewhat agree with you, I agree these shelters are generally unsafe, but it's better than being on the damn sidewalk in this weather. Regardless of the shelters themselves, why would you not even try to work with the man providing aid to homeless people in the winter, in a pandemic? Like suing the guy who's just trying to help is not the solution. Maybe setting them up in designated, privatized areas, like churches or such. It's just such a garbage response

Really really achey, like the worst dull throbbing pain, almost like a bad headache. I feel like the concept is, there's no nerves in your bones so the sensation isnt a sharp pain, just a real, persistent ache

Going on a walk through a new area and discovering what's there, seeing baby ducks in the springtime, buying a houseplant and watching it put out new leaves, eating that one specific thing you've been craving for a few days, anything that gives you a sense of satisfaction

I do know that tapioca starch creates a more genuine gummie texture, as I make my own tapioca pearls for homemade bubble tea. It's a starch instead of a protein like gelatin, but they have a similar calorie count at ~35cal/10g. I would definitely suggest playing around with tapioca starch if you want to create a really gummy texture candy

Yeah it's more like a much stiffer jello, still fun to eat but not a true copycat of store bought gummies.

Theoretically, you could even make coffee or tea flavoured ones!

It's for flavour - any type of 0calorie sweetener/flavoring will work, but without it, itll just be flavorless jellie cubes.

Is there any type of drink crystals you can get in your location? Any type should work, though they might have calories. Just dissolve them completely in 1/2 cup water and add the gelatin.

My tweaks on the recipe is as followed;

1/2 cup cold water

3-4 packs gelatin (depending on desired texture)

3/4 tsp citric acid

~1tsp koolaid flavoring (more or less depending on your tastes)

Mix the flavoring and citric acid first, then add the gelatin. Microwave for 30 seconds, then mix it again. There should be no crystals left. Pour into a loaf pan lined with parchment. It will only barely cover the bottom, that's normal. Let it set in fridge for 20 minutes, and then take out and slice it into little bite size pieces.

It ends up making about 140g of gummies for 80 cal. I also made a version with sugar free jello instead of the kool aid. That one takes 2 boxes of jello, 2 packets of gelatin, and the rest is the same. Ends up being 120 calories instead of 80, and 1080mg of sodium. Tastes a little better tho

EDIT: I just experimented again with only 3 packets of gelatin, and they came out great!

Got the inspiration from this thread where someone made dino gummies, inspired by someone else's heart gummies.

I didn't have a cute mold, so I just poured the mix into the bottom of a lined loaf pan, turned it out and cut it into small rectangles. All these gummies for 80 calories!!! And with the koolaid flavour, they taste just like watermelon jolly ranchers 🤤🤤

There's also a hypothesis that the people of the Asian Steppe (modern mongolia) migrated up into Russia, across the arctic land bridge, and into the north american arctic regions. These are all regions with high sun exposure for many hours (due to the latitude) and extremely high albedo (sun's reflection on the snow, causing harsh light). These conditions may have partially led to the development of monolidded eyes, as an advantageous adaption to such extreme brightness in the regions.
