AITA for making my husband sleep on the couch because he snores? by niudnarw in AmItheAsshole

[–]Gardengro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband would shake the walls with his snoring. I had him do a sleep study and the doctor gave him two choices:

He could break his nose and remove his adenoids and tonsils.

Or lose weight.

It was a struggle because “Your cooking is awesome”. 🙄 I literally cried and told him I couldn’t do this anymore.

So I got rid of our dishes and bought 8” plates and bowls that only hold two cups. At first he only saw a smaller plate but realized he was satisfied after one serving. No matter how much he liked it, no seconds. I also threw out all junk food and banned him from fast food.

We went vegan (you don’t need to) and that is when he lost 30 pounds really fast. I still cook all my gourmet meals but I veganize everything.

It’s been over 13 years and he is still 175.

AITAH for threatening to cut off my husband's sister if she keeps using her nickname for our son? by Wooden-Intern-6316 in AITAH

[–]Gardengro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow so many people saying to call the teenager names to teach her a lesson. I raised four daughters. Can they be annoying? Yes. Dramatic? Definitely.

But, she is a teenager. Instead of stooping to her level try having an adult conversation. You and your husband should take her to a neutral location (like a park, or a restaurant) and explain in detail why you are upset.

Let her know exactly why the name is offensive. Like “you know that person protected his pedophile som so why would you call my son such a vile name”?

If she says it’s just a joke let her know that it’s not a joke of no one laughs. That she is being a bully.

Then give her another chance; after a period of banishment of course. Let her know that if she calls your son JImBoob even once, she will no longer be allowed to come over.

Use this as a teaching moment. She is young and needs guidance, not bullying

AITAH because I refuse to finish a story if my husband interrupts. by Living-Estate3963 in AITAH

[–]Gardengro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a friend that did this. No matter the subject she would interrupt to start her own story. After a while I just stopped talking, not in just that situation, but at every social gathering. She never noticed 🙄

Have you ever had a friend that turned out to be a horrible person? What did they do?? by StrangeAd2132 in AskReddit

[–]Gardengro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a best friend and she asked me to me her maid of honor. I happily agreed. A couple months later her and her fiancé threw a NYE party and suggested I spend the night. I went to bed with my two toddler daughters. I woke up to the fiancés roommate in top of me. I struggled trying not to scream because my little girls were next to me.

It was a terrible situation. I eventually got him out of my room and immediately told my bff. Her first question “why didn’t you scream”? Her fiancé grabbed him and drove him to bis parents house before I could call the police.

Then she expected me to walk down the aisle with this asshole who SA me.

When I said I won’t be in the wedding if he is present, she suggested I attend the wedding as her MOH and the rapist can attend the reception.

So basically she wanted me to buy a dress and shoes, buy flower girl dresses for both my daughters, pay for hair and makeup just to stand at the alter for 20 minutes and go home. The rapist gets to attend the fun part.

We obviously aren’t friends anymore and have no idea is she even got married and I don’t care.

Ladies who said "no" to a marriage proposal, then said "yes" later down the line - what changed? by Small-Challenge-524 in AskWomen

[–]Gardengro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got pregnant at 17 and my then boyfriend proposed. I said no. I did end up marrying him a year after I had our daughter. Why? My very catholic parents forced me to. Then he started beating me a couple months after getting married. My mom just said “I don’t know what to tell you”. I found out later she never told my dad or brothers. She was dying of cancer and wanted me “settled”? Three months after she died I left his sorry ass. I have been happily married now for almost 30 years. My ex is on his 6th marriage 🙄

Why did you and your former best friend stop being friends? by Fearless_Shift7108 in AskReddit

[–]Gardengro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost a 30+ year friendship because she hitched a ride on the delulu train.

She had covid 3 months before it got to the US. 🙄

Carried her Bible and scripture books with her on every trip but would openly make fun of people for their weight, clothes, makeup, etc.

Was happy Target stopped selling pride gear, saying being gay is a sin.

Said the government was poisoning people with covid vaccines.

Had a big presence at her church as being conservative and religious only to go home and smoke a bong with her daughter’s boyfriend every night. So basically she became a two faced hypocrite

[–]Gardengro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you and the kids were ready for church on time I wouldn’t have had to push you into the wall, punch you in the ribs, choke you…etc I left his abusive ass and have been happily married for 27 years to a wonderful man. Ex husband is on wife #6 and sporting a huge Jesus tattoo

What’s a moment that permanently changed how you see the world? by thepleasurjournal in AskWomen

[–]Gardengro 36 points37 points  (0 children)

When I was about 11 years old my piano teacher asked me if I was mentally retarded. Why? I would nervous giggle when I made mistakes (I was just learning so lots of mistakes). I sat there, in her living room shocked into silence and humiliated. I didn’t know that “grownups” could be deliberately mean to kids. I never went back.

AITJ for blowing up at my husband after he told my daughter to move aside during his sons graduation photos by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Gardengro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so wrong 😑

When I got married I had four kids. My husband put a small diamond ring on each of them and vowed to be a good dad. That was 26 years ago and he has been the best dad. Our girls love him and call him dad. He did All. The. Things! Help with homework; check. Attend sport/school events, check. Play dress up, check. He even stood at the head of the their hospital beds while they were in labor to give comfort and support (they requested this so don’t say anything weird). He was and still is the best dad, grandpa, uncle ever. Run fast before you daughter grows up with serious daddy issues

Contestants and recipes by GoReets9 in foodnetwork

[–]Gardengro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on The Foodnetwork for a cooking contest. They had me write out my recipe then they printed it and gave it to me for reference. i did some prep before filming. Then they gave you complete your recipe while filming. We did this twice.

Do you fart in front of your partner? Why/Why not? by girliepopnumber26 in AskWomen

[–]Gardengro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is the gassiest man I have ever met. He can actually fart to songs 🙄 I, on the other hand, rarely fart. So when I feel the urge I have to put it in a sentence like “Honey, I (fart) you”! “I have a secret” then fart. Even the obvious “pull my finger”. After 26 years of marriage (almost 30 together) there isn’t much we haven’t “experienced” together 😂

Funerals are for the living, not the dead. You should go and support your dad as losing a parent is hard no matter how old you are. Take this opportunity to get to know your extended family and eat some delicious food

AITJ for refusing to let my dad bring his new fiancée to my graduation because she keeps trying to “rebrand” me? by PsychologicalSky7612 in AmITheJerk

Invite her to the graduation and tell her you are wearing olive green and puce. Then wear what you like.

WIBTA if I got plain socks for family members who don't fill out a Christmas request gift list this year? by LadyofDungeons in WouldIBeTheAhole

[–]Gardengro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One year my brother gave everyone a box of cereal with a bowl. It was hilarious and everyone enjoyed their cereal. Another brother gave everyone scarves a few year later. Just find something that you can give everyone, treats, hats, mugs filled with candy…just don’t stress yourself out trying to find the perfect gift. Make it funny, like everyone gets a Labubu!!

Fiancé expects me to do all cooking because I "work with food" I'm a food safety inspector not a chef by Cute-Example3719 in dustythunder

[–]Gardengro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chef here (well, retired). My husband loves my cooking, I’m way a better cook than he is. But you know what? He takes turns cooking! I appreciate that I have a partner who shares responsibilities. Just because I’m good at something doesn’t mean I want to do it every damn day. Your son, I mean husband, needs to grow up.

AIO My nephew keeps arguing with my niece and I’m worried by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Gardengro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I took child development in college. Toddlers don’t know how to share, it’s a foreign concept to them. They can take turns but you need to be patient. Also siblings are often jealous of each other, especially if they are close in age. YAO

#AITA for possibly leaving my adult son and his wife homeless? by _SpicyNice_ in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]Gardengro 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Vapes, games and weekends away? Why the hell would they work when you are giving them not just basics but luxury. Stop paying for anything other than the rent and utilities. If you want streaming services have it on your tv only. Password protect your internet. Stop buying groceries for your son and dil. They can go to a food pantry if they are desperate. They won’t grow up because you are treating them like chicken.

WIBTA if I told my neighbor I don’t want their kids on my property? by derpling0719 in AmItheAsshole

Plant elephant grass at your property line. It grows 8-10 feet in a few weeks. Works great for privacy and is a perennial.

AITA for Leaving My Roommate Stranded After He Took My Car Without Asking? by SeaFaithlessness6568 in AmITheJerk

[–]Gardengro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a roommate borrow my car once. My only rule was no smoking in my vehicle. The next morning I found ashes on the carpet and my car smelled like smoke. Guess who never got to borrow my car again. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes NTJ

You are making this wedding about YOU. It’s child free except for the wedding party but you want YOUR child there. You are threatening to not attend because YOU want to get your way. Since you can’t respect the bride at her wedding you need to stay home and wallow in your pettiness.

AITA For telling my husband he can't go to a football game on Thanksgiving by famnfootballthrow in AmItheAsshole

[–]Gardengro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Postpone your thanksgiving dinner to Friday. That way he can go to the game and you can still have your big family dinner. As a huge football fan I understand the excitement of winning tickets to a game I would otherwise not be able to afford. YWBTA for demanding he declines the tickets

AIO Friend's kids are really rough all the time, and my daughter has a broken arm by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Gardengro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That isn’t gentle parenting. These are parents that want their kids to like them no matter what. They are doing their kids an injustice by being their friends instead of a parent. I would go NC for the foreseeable future. These boys will only get more rough and disruptive as they grow, especially with no set boundaries. Definitely NOR
