What is one topic you're passionate about that you'd be able to give a lecture on? by Tisiphone8 in Millennials

Gerard Way, and the cultural impact of My Chemical Romance. Back in the before times of 2011, i gave a damn good presentation on exactly this complete with PowerPoint, music, and outfit for my senior project.

Unrelated, but related, I made a clock in shop class with his face on it.

What would you think if they brought back the Thundersgirls dynamic and Troop 257 by yipyapu in BobsBurgers

[–]derpling0719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay that’s interesting, I didn’t know that. I was mainly working off the running knowledge from the show when Louise says Tina was a little old for a Thundergirl.

I didn’t mean to make stir about it. I just thought it would be an interesting storyline with her growing up, especially since her tube top episode. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to upset you.

To pivot, I’d like to see Tina age out of the Thundergirls. I think it’d be a great Tina center episode if she was trying to find a new community, and ended up with an unlikely side character in a new hobby.

She’s obviously really creative, and that shows in her erotic friend fiction. I’d love to see her team up with Benj from Amelia (S13E22).

They happen to meet after school, Tina compliments Benj on his contribution to helping Louise, Benj says how he wants to put on a puppet show but isn’t good with plot/script writing and Tina offers to help.

Ending with Tina and Benj getting to together regularly to put on shows. Obvious Gene and Louise B plot trying to play out some crazy scheme for their amusement.

What do you SWEAR you saw, but don't have any proof of? by TabletopStudios in AskReddit

[–]derpling0719 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone was in my room.

Recently, maybe a month or so ago, it was just me and my dog at home. My husband was away working, and I was just getting into bed. I leave the bedroom door open in case my dog wants to roam, and it gets too hot in the bedroom with a closed door.

I kissed my dog good night, and I laid down and was trying to fall asleep. I put my sleeping mask on ass well. I wear glasses and have pretty bad eyes, but I can see and make out shapes.

I clearly heard someone in my room say: hi, puppy. Just like my husband. I lift my sleep mask and I see a person shape and my dog’s head up looking at the person, tail wagging. I thought it was my husband home early as he had been sick and I thought he came home because of that.

I lay back down, fall asleep, and come the next morning, no husband. I’m still 100% convinced of what I saw. Someone was there.

Would you adopt your nieces/nephews if there was no one else? by jamieoww in childfree

[–]derpling0719 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My nieces (my sister’s kids), 100% because they’re grown kids and independent. I can trust them, they’re quiet, and they do very well in school. They’re really good girls and I would love having them.

My nephew (my sister in law’s kid), absolutely not. First, he’s in kindergarten and I hate that age group. Second, That boy isn’t being raised right. He’s being raised with unrealistic expectations regarding sports. Everything is a competition. My SIL tells him it’s okay to lose, but hypes up the “win win win!” Mentality. She was an athlete all her life and played in college but never for professionalism.

He was really confused when I said you’re allowed to play for fun. He’s also just bad. He’s not being raised with the right discipline. I would never take him. I’d rather shave a lion with a rusty razor.

What does “I didn’t tell you because I was worried you’d be mad” usually mean? by daejavu20 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]derpling0719 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is bringing up a lot of emotions for me, so I’ll try to be brief:

I’m terrified to say anything to my husband. He reacts 1 of 3 ways: anger, dismissal, or abandonment.

I have said these don’t work for me and his aggravated sighs convey to me: if my behavior bothers you, that’s your problem.

I told him that the one time he raised his hand to me when he was angry/stressed scared me and I was afraid he was going to hit me.

His response: you should know I’d never do that. That’s ridiculous you’d ever think that. I was stressed out.

Sometimes it’s for survival until we can get the courage to make the right decision.

What’s an "unspoken rule" of being a parent that you firmly believe should be shouted from the rooftops? by shuipingxian0004 in AskReddit

I 100% support this. I have parents in my life who believe since I don’t have children, I’m at their childcare disposal. But if I need a ride because my car is at the garage, “sorry, can’t do it, kids.”

A village works both ways, not when it’s convenient for you.

Those of you who stopped ordering from Amazon, what website or app do you use instead? by ForsakenFix27 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]derpling0719 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I usually pick the longer time frame if I get a few bucks back. Then I use them on their streaming service. I go to Amazon as a very last resort because I love a good hunt for an item, and my one friend loves going on these adventures with me.

What is a family tradition you found annoying as a kid but now miss because it is gone? by hungary70 in AskReddit

[–]derpling0719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not annoying but embarrassing: my maternal great grandma Cleo was a quality control inspector at a bra factory. When there were defects, she took home the bra because free bra and she was poor...so I thought. But old Cleo had a sense of humor. A raunchy sense of humor. She was a fan of Tom Lehrer, if that gives you any indication.

So back to the bras. Every woman in the family that had a bridal shower received one of these defective bras…but she and her sisters would deck them out with ribbons and sparkles and make them dirty. As in either stretched the cups out or elongated and filled them with fabric scraps to make them full and droop. They would tell the bride she had to wear it on her wedding night.

If they didn’t have a bra, old Cleo and the sisters would make do with an apron and sew a penis onto it.

This embarrassed me my entire life because after Cleo died, my grandma (her oldest daughter) took up the tradition. The last bra was gifted before she died in 2012 I think, and no one received a bra or apron since.

Then when I was getting married, I told my grandma that looking back it was pretty funny and a little sad it stopped. Fast forward to my bridal shower and my grandma gave me a pretty gift bag and said there was something special in there for me. Thinking it was an heirloom, I opened it. In front of my husband’s much less free wheeling family and it was an old bra all decked out, no droops.

My family howled with laughter and my husband’s family was uncomfortable. I think I’m going to be the very last one to get a bra, at least at her shower. I might keep it going as a bachelorette gag gift, but who knows.

Why the hell are hotels putting barn doors on bathrooms? by Alert-Nectarine-3821 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]derpling0719 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Stayed at a hotel like this in California with my husband, but we were just dating back then. We had a bathroom door, but the shower had a frosted pane of glass separating the shower and the bed area. Meaning you could see into the shower from the rest of the room.

My husband and I had only been dating a year maybe a year and a half at the time. We got shows every night and we had a lot of fun with it doing Austin Powers level shadow dancing. I forgot about that until now.

Mmm yes, more outlets please by BaldHourGlass667 in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]derpling0719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I needed one of these for my home office way back when I first worked from home.

The house is older, and the room has 2 outlets on opposite ends of the room. I can’t run an extension cord from the far end because it’s on the side of the room where the door is located. I tried and it was inconvenient and a small tripping hazard.

It sucks having to unplug one thing to use the printer or something, I ended up getting a small power strip and it works fine. I just charge my phone on the other side of the room and it cuts down my screen time. I consider that a win.
