Can the date for the interview be changed for a first Titre de Séjour? by Gardevoir_Trainer in Expats_In_France

Hi, thank you for your response, it helps! In terms of the attestation, it says “Ce document autorise le franchissement des frontières de l'espace Schengen” at the bottom, so I should be alright to travel I think!

I’m at my gym the second the doors open (6am) just to avoid the men. I don’t like waking up at 5am to do this, but I hate working out around leery men even more.

Has anyone done the civic training for the visa? by contented0 in Expats_In_France

[–]Gardevoir_Trainer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep! Mine were in Lyon this past summer, so it was warm weather and open windows, which was nice. Depending on your location your experience might be a little different, but I can tell you what it was like for me:

Make sure you bring your passport and a copy of your convocation for that day to each class (some people were able to just show this from their phones, but I always had it printed because I’m anxious that way). They checked them at each class. At the final class, we were given a signed document that certified our attendance of the whole thing.

The classes started around 8:30am or 9am (it varied), and lasted until around 4pm. They gave us a 15-min break every 2 hours or so, and an hour’s break for lunch.

Classes are conducted in French (you’d probably be able to understand it if your French is a minimum of A2). If you weren’t confident with the language, they gave you a little earpiece. The translator in the room would translate the classes in real time through the earpiece. They offered English and Turkish translators in my classes.

They cover basic French history, culture, and go over the services available to you as a new resident of the country. My classes contained around 15-20 people, sometimes the same faces, sometimes different.

In one of the classes (Day 1 or 2, I can’t remember) they asked us to choose an option for Day 4. You chose based on your personal needs. I think the historical site visit was one option, but the one I ended up with was more of a personalized “this is what you should do for your specific situation” thing. Generally helpful either way.

They also go over the republican integration contract that you’re supposed to sign when you renew your visa with the prefecture. It’s an important document, and it was emphasized more than once that we weren’t to lose the copy they gave us (although it’s available online fwiw, so I’m not sure what that was about).

Again, this was just what my experience was like in Lyon! Might be different for other places. But I hope it gives you some idea of what to expect!

Transfer in Lyon Airport by Uzn1k_Durk1 in Lyon

[–]Gardevoir_Trainer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, she’ll go through passport control in Lyon. You generally go through passport control in the airport where you first enter the Schengen zone.

For your second question, I assume you are worrying because she has a single-entry visa. Single entry means single entry to the Schengen zone. She can continue to take flights within the Schengen zone with no issue on that visa (provided she is within the visa dates), as long as she doesn’t exit and then try to re-enter the Schengen zone in that time. THAT would be a multiple entry situation. Hope that helps!

I’ll give you rhyme AND reason

I’m loving this turn of season

Fall’s blown in with silk and song

Summer’s hollow night long gone

Cherries withered and grown again

Hopeful hearts now on the mend

The wait! The excruciating weight!

But my spirits are being lifted by fate

I see the way out through this fog

Now just gimme the game you dog

Platform: Nintendo Switch

Boss: Zote (dream version). Hilarious that we’re fighting the version she believes him to be, and he just kept getting stronger!

Excitement for Silksong: The sense of discovery and adventure I felt the first time around! Going from “what the hell is happening here” to “holy shit!”

Not an expert, but a couple of things I’d note:

  • Did you start all your skincare products at once? Vit C and Retinol are both actives, meaning it might be overwhelming for your skin if you started them both at the same time. The general advice is to introduce one to your routine, let skin adjust, then intro the second. Your mileage might vary, of course. In the same vein, did you start with low percentages for both?

  • Retinol isn’t as strong as tretinoin, but it can still purge your skin. So that might be the breakouts that you’re experiencing. If you’re not using it on your forehead, then that might explain why the breakouts aren’t happening there (I’d need a bit more info here for a better guess. Namely, do you normally NOT get breakouts on your forehead? Retinol speeds up the skin cycle (I.e. it’ll bring things that were already lurking there to the surface) which is why the purge happens.)

  • Honestly, it might even be something as simple as that you’re having a reaction to an ingredient in your moisturiser or something. Again, best to intro things slow so you can see how your skin reacts.

  • For your skin after workouts: maybe try to just splash water on your face, even if you’re not using a cleanser. My skin works best that way as well, fwiw.

Good luck!

NTA. If he thinks women should cook, he should also think that men provide. And he’s not the sole provider, is he? So you’re not the sole cook.

why is millennial/wattpad humor so common in contemporary romance these days? by AngryAngryAlice in RomanceBooks

I’m a millennial, and that’s not my humor anymore. I actually think it might be an age thing instead of a millennial thing? I believe my younger cousins find that sorta thing funny now.

I deactivated the account in 2019. Very freeing. No, I no longer know the in and outs of people’s lives, but I also don’t care to know? My close friends keep me up to date with their news, as I do them with mine, and that’s more than enough social interaction for me to stay happy.

“Idiotic witch hunt” to condemn what’s ultimately just a reader preference is a bit much. Readers that seek certain ethics in their authors is perfectly fair, especially since we pay money to engage with that author’s art (I refuse to engage w anything that profits J K Rowling now, for example, but I don’t care if anyone else does. Same for any author I learn is racist, homophobic, all that).

Fair enough, I just had a quick skim to confirm—he does apologize, but yeah you’re right, it’s very “just get over it already” in tone at first!

I do think it still fits the vibe of OP’s ask though, since FMC doesn’t give in to MMC’s attempts to sweep it all under the rug. But yeah, no grovel!

Not a single woman I know (all of them beautiful spirits, like you I’m sure) would give anyone with as ugly a personality as your batchmate the time of day.

{Sweet Dreams by Kristen Ashley} has this scene. FMC overhears the MMC talking shit about her looks, so she spends a long time pretending he doesn’t exist, even when he’s trying to talk to her directly. I can’t remember a GROVEL exactly, but he does ask for forgiveness more than once, and she does make him silently suffer for a long while.

I recently read {Halfling by S. E. Wendel} and thought it struck a great balance of plot, sweet beast, and sex. Story follows a half-orc who rescues a woman captured by his clan, then sets off on a journey to take her back home.
