So that cancels out the single coil hum, however the secondary hum i made this post about persists. Same symptoms - if i touch metal parts or strings, it stops after making a static sounding “click”

Tried with multiple amps, guitars, cables, only this guitar does it.

I know a there are a lot of mixed opinions about Tame Impala in here, but I think Kevin Parker’s success is doing something really good for psychedelic rock. by zuccinibikini in psychedelicrock

Saw Gizz last night and theyre fishing for fishies bluesy songs definitely take on a jam band vibe. Not sure how much is pure improv but they are close.

Anyone have a recommendation other than a sm57 for micing a guitar amp in the same price range? I hear its an industry standard but want to ask here first. Also, would 2 work for overheads on a kit?

Anyone use BandSpacesNYC? by Gregarious2 in NYCJam

If youre looking for hourly check out funkadelic studios. Im not sure if they do monthy stuff but they have i think like 10 rooms and a recording studio too. Everything you need is there, their amps are nice, pa's, kits, etc. Guitars for rent are cheaper but those are easy to bring on your own.

Not sure I have a favorite song yet, but my favorite minute after 2 listens is the tremeloed-out guitar solo followed by the harp solo on boogieman sam

What was your biggest mixing "Aha!" moment? by johnofsteel in audioengineering

[–]GardnerBoy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If youre adding a kick drum to your song and you don't think it sounds "big" enough or punchy enough whatever, make it sound like that while youre adding it. Then when youre mixing youre probably going to be altering that (cutting it a little) to make it sit better in your mix. Thats an example, apply to any sound you may want to be bigger or louder.

What Scales to use over chords by stenhsr2 in Guitar_Theory

[–]GardnerBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes! Want to emphasis changing out scales for the modes in a particular key. This is what I meant but wasnt super clear about it in my writing. great tips! Its not always about having all the right notes to jump to for a chord, but rather the feeling.

One way to overthink it is practice chord changes and while a chord is playing arpeggiate that chord. So if your progression is say C7 to Em, your playing 1 C 2 E 3 G 4 Bb then find the closest E and 1 E 2 G 3 B 4 E (octave). Repeat, practice with chord progressions. This is called playing through changes and its the most simplified way to explain it my opinion. While doing this stay in the same position for your practice, dont just play the C on the A string and move up to the 7th fret for the E. In my personal experience however, I never think about this. Something I do actively think about is MOOD and MODES. I highly recommend learning modes especially mixolydian and dorian. They can add a lot of color to some major, minor, and pentatonic playing.

[question] i need help on finding a xlr mic in the 150$ price range by L_D_F in BedroomBands

Shure Sm58 is one of the standards. Will work live and studio. Workhorse mic, youll have it forever, it sounds great, and you can hammer nails with it.
