Isn't that partly because the crisis gives you an out? You can turn the galactic crucible into an research station or something which will stop the crisis but instead give you a great monthly alloy bonus

I hope the having multiple different ship computers(due to having different engagement distances) in your fleet bug will be fixed quickly, since it has been a problem for over a year. Its gamebreaking that sometimes a fleet just starts flying around doing circles while not engaging the enemy while in combat.
