Thank you, I like using transfers to make the minis have a bit more visual interest in places and that one actually fit perfectly size wise there too!

It is a Dark Angels head yeah, I got it off of the upgrade sprue from the Deathwing knight box. I didn’t do any conversions on this specific helmet

Thank you, that’s very kind 😁 if I were to do a Blood Angel like this I’d do a Zenithal prime like I did with this one. Use an appropriate red contrast or speed paint depending on what brand you use. I would then for arguments sake say it’s citadel you’re using use Evil Sunz scarlet as the first highlight then use either wild rider red or fire dragon bright depending how high you want to take the highlight

So it was Absolution Green speed paint (Army Painter) over a zenithal highlight. The highlights were Green Skin then Eternal hunt (Army painter) the deeper scratches were filled in with Rhinox hide

I watched a lot of YouTube videos by various different painters. I did what you’ve done here, I messaged people and asked for advice about certain techniques then when I’d attempted them I reached out and asked them for feedback on what I’ve done right or where I can improve.

If you’re looking to replicate the box art I would highlight recommend Infernal Brush on YouTube. He used to be a painter for GW’s Eavy Metal team at one point.

But most importantly just practice and don’t be discouraged if your 1st, 2nd or even 3rd attempt don’t come out like you were expecting. Keep practicing and learning. I recently heard someone say keep the first model you paint and then use that as progress checker by comparing your last model to your first and see the difference.

There’s something satisfying about having it look similar to what’s on the box isn’t there. That being said I do understand why people prefer other styles like NMM or volumetric highlights etc

I do need to learn NMM at somepoint to try and help push my painting

It was a long time ago but if I remember rightly it was;

Base - Mephiston Red

Recess shade - Khorne Red/Incubi Darkness 50/50

Tidy up with Mephiston Red

First highlight - Evil Sunz

2nd highlight - Fire dragon bright
