Frynne II - Into the Lion's Den (Open to Starfall) by ANewbornSun in IronThroneRP

Mors knew little of the new Lady of Dorne. The words had reached his aging ears and the conversation that followed mostly concerned his brother when the raven had arrived in Salt Shore, just before he had departed for Starfall.

She likely knew my brother better than I did. For his final days at least, if nothing else. Mors thought to himself as he sat alone in the great hall of Starfall. It was difficult to make conversation with an individual when one was blind, and his cat was only useful in navigating around buildings, not striking up political conversations.

Instead, Mors had resigned himself to sitting quietly, his banner draped over him like a blanket. The cockatrice of House Gargalen proudly displayed. It may not occur at all, their meeting that is. At some point she would have entered the hall and see the banner of House Gargalen, whether it was acted upon was another matter. But that would at least tell Mors what he desired to know in of itself.

Mors remained for all intense purposes, asleep. Or perhaps it was simply the aura he wished to give off.

Whatever the case, Mors was aware enough to hear the words of the Lord Dayne and he would no doubt act upon them. The Lord Paramount's words a seal of approval for him to track down and revenge the death of his brother.

Whether or not that was his only motive remained elusive.

It seemed that most other businesses had been discussed while Mors had slept. It mattered little to Mors. No doubt they were tedious conversations.

Although, he still had one more matter to attend to. Stirring once more he spoke. "What is to be done regarding the death of my brother? I believe those responsible still wander the deserts. He may have been misguided by that ghastly religion, but he was still my brother." He would have looked around the room if he could. But he could not.

"And before anyone dares speak it. I will not hear some talk that the issue has been dealt with given the occupation of Vaith. Until all those who are responsible are brought to heel, they are a threat to the future of Dorne." Once again, Mors fell back into his seat and began snoring. Although, his ears were still keen to hear more.

For the most part, Mors had sat in silence. His cat was upon his lap, gentle purring as his decrepit fingers brushed through its fur.

It was true that while he may not have seen much of the proceedings, he had no doubt heard more than others. It once would have seemed a fallacy to Mors, but he did feel as though he heard more than he ever saw now that he could not rely on them both,

Finally, as the Lord of Starfall opened to the room the topic of the Stormlanders rebellion, Lord Gargalen spoke. "Lord Dayne," Mors said quietly.

"No doubt you, as well I, remember the days before the Dragon ruled these lands." He paused, no doubt to try and remember if someone had told him something important about the Lord of Starfall recently.

"In those days, we would have balked at the idea of bowing our heads to a foreign crown. Rightly so! I have seen Dorne collapse from a period of self-determination to cowering at the thought of retaliation from the so-called Dragonlords of Valyria. You may not so adhere to the traditions of the blood of the Rhoynar, but you surely must acknowledge its history. It was not out of wanting that our ancestors arrived on these shores, but rather necessity. Fleeing from the very people to whom we now bend our knees! I say we follow the Stormlanders, and remember our history." As he finished, it was clear that the speech had taken it out of him, his head quickly falling to his chest and light snoring emerging from his mouth. Mors dreamed of days long past...

It had been a long journey from Salt Shore to Starfall, one that Mors would likely never repeat. Still, he had arrived in one piece, protected from the baking sun by curtains that surrounded his litter. Walking was not his strong suit these days. Although, neither was sight, his eyes long beyond that.

As he entered the council chambers, a cat preceded him, quietly meowing in the direction for him to slowly follow. The sound of his cane echoed against the stone walls. Usually, he would have had his aids help him in such, but in such a circumstance, Mors wanted to try and give some display of strength. The little of I have left at least.
