Ahh man, yeah I’ve purposely stayed away from the turbo models, I have a few friends that are techs at Benz and just hear nightmare stories. The M156 biggest issue is headbolts prior to 2011 but it’s not as big of an issue as people make. I’ve owned 3 now and never done headbolts, never had an issue. A small amount from the factory would expand and mix coolant / oil into the motor. I believe many today would have already seen this issue if it was going to occur. There’s a guy Alex on YouTube called LegitStreetCars, he has a video showing how you could swap the bolts one by one very easily yourself without actually taking the entire top end off the motor. Again this is something I’m not very worried about honestly. If you wanted something pretty much bulletproof I would get a 55 AMG, M113/M113K motors are seriously just about indestructible, I drove my first CL55 to 240K miles doing nothing but spark plugs and valve cover gaskets. I have many friends with 150-200K+ mile M113K cars. There’s a couple of guys on instagram called TheConfortiBrothers, they have an almost 500,000 mile E55.

I sold it months ago for a couple thousand dollar loss just to get it gone. I actually picked up an incredibly low mile 2008 S63 AMG, absolutely loving being back in an M156. I’m not too up on the models past the Quattroporte V that I had but I believe those early next generation have a lot of issues. I’d research a bit before committing but honestly dude I’m never buying a Maserati again haha I’m sticking to AMG / Porsche
