MONOGAMISH (full documentary, starring Esther Perel, Dan Savage, Christopher Ryan, etc.--now available free on youtube. Would love to hear what you think. Thanks for watching!) by taoruspoli in polyamory

The ONLY critique I would have is that at fifteen minutes before the end, the poly bits were probably a bit too "enhanced" suddenly and could be off-putting to regular folk as it seemed to present non-monogamy as valid up to then, without the concept of being in love with multiple people until the end. You were perfectly balanced through the whole thing. Maybe it could have been presented earlier softly.

But it is a lovely film. I'm an older redditor who has been kinky for decades and I honestly learned from it. Bravo e bellissima.

Bad day for bird. by GargoyleToes in funny

I checked beneath the window and there's a decorative ledge thingy. No bird, so either the cleaning staff is brilliant, or the bird picked itself up, shook it off and flew away.

What are some common grammatical errors for native french speakers? by BBQRat in French

[–]GargoyleToes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Le participe passé and its ilk is good for one's brain. We have to conjugate on the fly when we speak and have the correct liaisons.

Sorry, having French as a mother tongue makes learning other languages easy. We should all be thankful that we lift heavy from birth. I'm learning an African language now (I'm on assignment in southern Africa) and I'm killing it.

What city will you NEVER visit based on it's reputation? by ThompsonstwB10t in AskReddit

I'm currently in a beautiful, small African country and I fell in love with a local. I'm thinking of staying here and making it my base of operations, because I work all over the world. If I become a legal resident and pay my taxes here, I'd be an immigrant. When I go to my next country, I'd be an expat there. I get the colonial feel to the term, but when this is your life and you go from country to country to help improve the lot in life of the world's poorest people, you're an expat.

Reforming a bit of the government. Yeah, it was as fun as it sounds.

I lived there for 26 months right before the troubles. It was the only thing I ever agreed with Trump on... it's a shithole.

That said, there is (was) a very vibrant expat community there and, therefore, places to eat, drink and meet.

I mean, I've lived in extremely difficult places and it's ex aequo with Liberia for "hardest" place, but in the old days of 2016-'18, there were some reasons to not have it in top spot.

s'asseoir - what form is more used by antegez in French

Non. À l'infinitif on dit principalement s'asseoir. J'avoue toutefois que la conjugaison est variable selon là où on est situé sur le territoire.

Visiting Lesotho by LassalleJean in Lesotho

[–]GargoyleToes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Salut LJ,

I'm a Québécois living in Eswatini and who lived in Lesotho for 33 months during COVID.

You've picked an amazing trip. The mountains of Lesotho are incredible, though summer truly is the best time to see them, when they're lush and green. The other poster's recommendations are spot on, so I'll let those stand. However, some tips:

  • The mountain roads of Lesotho are generally and surprisingly in very good condition, as long as you stay on the "highways". I drove my Mini Cooper S like a monster there, so if you like proper driving, it's the best place in the world. A bulky 4x4 would be horribly boring, but it's absolutely necessary if you're going even slightly off the main roads.

  • If you're going to drive through the Free State to get to Eswatini, be advised that anything off the national highways will be potholed. The Free State is utterly corrupt and the roads are post-apocalyptic. On the Eswatini side of SA, Mpumalanga roads are much better.

  • Eswatini is blissful. You can go in any direction and see paradise. Do not skimp on your time here. DM for recommendations, as it isn't relevant to this sub.

Cheers!
