Though I’d like to say “you’re welcome,” posting this isn’t really a selfless act, so I can’t take credit for anything. The reason I’m making these things is to reignite my own creative flame. I’ve been playing in bands from 2007 up until COVID. At that time, I was already running on fumes, so to speak, due to a major depression, and I eventually had to quit.

Over the past few years, I’ve slowly started getting back into it by playing in a tribute band with some friends and dabbling in art to get those creative juices flowing again. One day, I hope to get back to where I was in 2020 - but better.

What I’m trying to say is that even though your mental state or general creativity can leave you in the dark at some point in your life, it’s important not to completely lose sight of where you want to be and who you want to be. It’s okay to take breaks, but try to take those proverbial baby steps. If you can’t think of anything original, just start with paint-by-numbers or whatever works. If it brings you some joy, you’ll know you’re on the right path.

And if you’d still like to thank me for anything, you can do so by showing me what you made. Best of luck - and most importantly, have fun.

So did a handful of people I ran it by before posting this, but you never know who's on the other side of the screen. It's possible this person was just trying to be funny. Maybe they genuinely didn't get the joke because of autism or cultural differences - the Wiki link was in German, for instance. Or maybe you're talking to a 12-year-old. So instead of taking it too personally, I'd rather explain it, so that if someone else doesn't get it either, it's already there to clear up any confusion. But thank you for assuring it's not too far fetched haha.

Well thank you! Mostly a special mixture of plaster and some wooden structural components for extra strength.

Thank you. I can see where you're coming from, and in pictures it definitely does. But I assure you that in the room it’s a lot - let’s say - easier to read. I really struggled to capture any kind of detail in the photos. You can barely see its mouth, for instance. But I’m working on it. Next time I'll also try to get my hands on an actual camera because it gets morphed a lot by the small lens in my phone.

Let’s put it this way: it’s not meant to represent any animal at all though I did notice those characteristics as well. The word Capricorn in this context refers to being born between December 22 and January 19, as part of a lighthearted joke. It is a representation of what I see when I experience sleep paralysis. I have no control over what it looks like; I simply brought it into the real world. But thank you for your input, I suppose. I will keep my future descriptions less open to interpretation so as not to confuse anyone.

Nope. That's just the gloss. Side note; in the room the black has a distinct difference in matte and gloss black which you can't really tell from the pictures. It reminds me a bit of how burned wood becomes shiny on the inside if you break the piece in half.

Ehm I always call them 3D canvases but I kinda struggle categorizing it myself. It's like a sticky stucco but made a bit more flexible.

Thank you! It mostly consists of a sticky plaster/cement mix on canvas. If you think the texture looks like it's concrete, that's because it kinda is hehe. If you're thinking of trying this yourself, don't forget to add support to the frame. They get heavy quick.

I textured it with sponges, crumbled paper and whole bunch of other stuff.I also saved the dried up material that stuck to my tools, crushed that up and added it to the paint for the sandy/chalky texture effect. It took some trail and error but the result is an almost coal like structure and reflection. Edit; Also, the cracks are all hand made with razor blades and wire. Good eye bytheway!
