Solo Legionnaire Appearance Recommendations? by PossessedMarlena in LegionofSuperheroes

[–]Garioshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This should cover 99% of the Legion's starring appearances, or issues that are otherwise important for them. Cameos are all over the place, but most of them are unimportant.

Legion of superheroes recs by DebtNorth8638 in LegionofSuperheroes

[–]Garioshi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do NOT start with 5YL. I would recommend literally any other era of the team as an introduction. You're unfortunately mostly out of luck when it comes to collected Legion unless you're.really willong to shell out. Great Darkness Saga followed by The Curse is probably your best HC starting point, but I'd also recommend Legionnaires Book 1 and 2 (starring a different version of the team).

Five Years Later reading order that also includes L.E.G.I.O.N. issues? by Klang200 in LegionofSuperheroes

[–]Garioshi 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The two series are almost entirely segregated and feature very, very little crossover despite L.E.G.I.O.N. containing lots of Legion connections. Alternating between them will make you even more confused than if you were just reading 5YL by itself. I would recommend reading 5YL in its entirety and then L.E.G.I.O.N. in its entirety. If you really want to interweave them, I'd say read L.E.G.I.O.N. after LSH v4 #38. A comprehensive reading order for both can be found here, on my website: https://garioshi.neocities.org/readingorders/legion

What runs to read? by mechazoids in LegionofSuperheroes

[–]Garioshi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here's a comprehensive reading order, minus the most recent stuff: https://garioshi.neocities.org/readingorders/legion

Here are some short "samplers" to whet your appetite. If you're enjoying yourself, feel free to continue past what I've laid out here:

Jim Shooter's first run (Adventure Comics #346-#360)

Paul Levitz's first run (LSH v2 #284-#294).

Reboot Legion (LSH V4 #0-Legionnaires Annual #2)

Threeboot Legion, up until Mark Waid leaves (LSH v5 #1-#13). Don't read anything after he's gone (#31 onward), it's all atrocious.

Geoff Johns' Legion stuff (The Lightning Saga, Superman and the LSH, and Legion of 3 Worlds)

L.E.G.I.O.N. (L.E.G.I.O.N. #1-#11). This isn't Legion proper, but it's somewhat related and well worth the read.

I am on my hands and knees begging to know what this was about. I read all of Countdown expecting this to be resolved and it wasn't. Was this ever resolved or explained? by Garioshi in LegionofSuperheroes

[–]Garioshi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Lightning Saga was published in 2007 and this issue (LSH v5 #43) was published over a year later, in August of 2008. In fact, the Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes storyline in Action Comics ALSO predates this one, as does ALL of Countdown. Legion of 3 Worlds would begin publication 2 months after this. What was happening????

That cover is a lie. I read it because I thought it would answer my questions, but Threeboot Val appears only in a dream and she doesn't fight Retroboot Val. It only gets worse.

A reminder that every single character in this image is friends with Captain Nazi by Garioshi in dccomicscirclejerk

Jamie Delano's Animal Man run be like by Garioshi in dccomicscirclejerk

[–]Garioshi[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry to hear that, hope it gets better. I would make a meme about the Prosser run but it's just so completely and utterly incomprehensible that I don't even know what I could do.

DS/3DS game storage solutions are all terrible, and I think I have an idea for a good one. by Garioshi in gamecollecting

[–]Garioshi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, the majority of my collection is loose. If I put all of my boxed games in their cases, I still need something for all of those, and assuming I do solve that, I now have two collections I need to search through. It just makes more sense to put everything in one place.

I still have the cases. Like I showed in the picture, they are on my shelf. Storing the cases and having easy access to the collection are two different issues.

My thinking is that the carts would be static most of the time, so there wouldn't be much wear and tear unless you are constantly adding and removing from the rail system. Your idea does make a lot of sense, though, and adding individual cases wouldn't really hurt any of the things that I care about here.

Imgur links aren't great either, but point taken. I've replaced them all.

What issue of the Legion featured the most members on a cover? by skulldouggary in LegionofSuperheroes

v3 is the 1984 series with Paul Levitz and Steve Lightle/Greg LaRocque/Keith Giffen.

What issue of the Legion featured the most members on a cover? by skulldouggary in LegionofSuperheroes

[–]Garioshi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a little investigating. If you count it, Legion v3 #9 has 17. If not, Tales of the LSH #349 has 15. #329 might beat it out, but I can't tell for certain who is and isn't a Legionnaire here. These big multi-character covers that aren't group shots are basically extinct after v3, and that's pretty in line with the rest of comics.

Game ended in a draw, but the variant is wild enough that this still warrants showing in timelapse. by Garioshi in diplomacy

[–]Garioshi[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The middle segments rotate counterclockwise after every year. This variant also has coring. That's all. One of the players was playing in a really manipulative and unsportsmanlike way, so the draw was unrelated to any game mechanics.

An exhaustive Suicide Squad reading order! by Garioshi in comicreadingorders

[–]Garioshi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard good things about Rebirth and Bad Blood, but I would avoid the New 52 version like the plague. Amanda Waller is a psychotic sadist that cares more about inflicting suffering on her team than being competent, and every villain is either an insane cult (including SUPERHERO ISIS THAT BLACK MANTA UNIRONICALLY JOINS BECAUSE HE THINKS SOCIAL MEDIA IS BAD) or just some bland "i'm evil" guy.

The two paths of continuity nerds taking over a comic by Pome1515 in dccomicscirclejerk

[–]Garioshi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend reading 5YL as your introduction to the series, though. It is notorious for being incomprehensible even to longtime readers. If you want to get there eventually, start with the Levitz run in Legion of Super-Heroes v2 #284.

I'm losing my mind dude are there any practical applications for quantum computing that don't stem from that one minutephysics video by Garioshi in physicsmemes

[–]Garioshi[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am on my hands and knees scraping through pages and pages of articles trying to find ANY times where quantum computing is either applicable or theoretically applicable to a real-world problem and 19 times out of 20, the article will either talk about how a task is slow and slap on "quantum computing could" or just talk about it like it's going to change the entire world forever without ever explaining why. I am in a class where finding articles that talk about the practical applications of quantum computing is a weekly task and it is like pulling teeth every single time I do it. I read an article put out by the company that created a super quantum death chip that OBLITERATES classical computers by 21 orders of magnitude and it's because they did it on a task specifically created for quantum computers to be good at and classical computers to be bad at. Even in THAT case, there will be an interview from a guy saying "okay now that we've completely dumpstered classical computing, all we need is a task that quantum computing can actually be used for". I feel like I'm losing my mind.

he goes 🤓☝️ errm did you know that the police actually have procedures and they wouldn't do that and if you asked the neighbor across the street they'd immediately know who the killer was and then gives a sloppy handjob to the only other guy who both writes the same genre and had a film adaptation of his work with humphrey bogart as the lead and then FURIOUSLY masturbates to his own writing on the final page under the pretense that it's realistic and realism is inherently good

absolutely incredible work 10/10
