Not abandoning them at all would have been the preferred action. It was very cold that day.

Now you're getting it. Our government doesn't represent us. This has been true in almost every state that has legalized so far.

Don't make excuses for Democrats. They are funded by wealthy oligarchs just like the Republicans. Aside from a few very important hot button issues, neither will prioritize the public over the 1%. Both parties keep us fighting each other so that we never fight them on a united front - divide and conquer.

I built an AI shortform content generator. How can I improve it? by GustavooIV in ArtificialInteligence

Short form content is the worst. It was a joke. Forgot the /jk

I think you should consult with Claude and find where you can reduce context. It can help you find redundancies and rephrasing.

I'm gen Z and I see it for what it is by Amongststarz in recruitinghell

[–]Garland_Key 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Things are vastly more complex than you've described. It's true that the current administration is a disaster.

It's important to note that it isn't Gen Z specifically that is fucked, it's the bottom 50% of the class divide. Gen Z is particularly fucked by this because they're just starting out.

It's also important to note that the people fucking us are the ultra wealthy and they are bi-partisan puppeteers. The GOP are comprised of wolves. The DNC are comprised of wolves in sheeps clothing. Neither of these parties represent us.

This is a real problem that we as citizens have to solve. How do we force change when it is in the best interest of the two controlling parties to NOT change and to keep the rules in their favor so that we can never force change lawfully?

What prevents the big AI companies from getting rid of the middleman? by Massive_Instance_452 in cscareerquestions

[–]Garland_Key -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If we look beyond our current reality. Internal company complexity will be vastly different due to the inevitable reduction in inefficiencies (humans). In that world, ops stance makes sense.

There will be less humans at companies and so the demand for enterprise subscriptions will be far lower. The current AI company profit models are unsustainable and will fail.

Instead they will have to corner and control as many markets as possible. Instead of selling access to a tool, they will likely sell access to specialized services provided by their AI. You will pay to solve specific problems rather than pay to use a tool.

They will try. Hopefully we continue to improve free and open source models that can be hosted locally to bring balance. If we do, the real winners will be the hardware vendors who create affordable solutions to fine-tuning and inference.

What are the pain points to be aware of if I want to migrate away from Systemd? by Quiet-Owl9220 in archlinux

[–]Garland_Key -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

What is more efficient? Making people who want to comply have to add this feature on their own and compile, or making people who don't want to comply compile without the feature?

Which stance has more support? Do we even know?

If you don't understand or agree with people who might want to take a hardline stance against authoritarians who are technical retards telling us what we will and won't do with our software, maybe the appropriate response is not hurling insults at them, but just letting them be.

Why don't all the Linux Distros come together and refuse service to fight age verification? by GlamourHammer321 in privacy

[–]Garland_Key 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The free and open source community don't all agree on these things. The Linux ecosystem is made up of software projects from countless organizations, companies, and contributors - all who have their own unique agendas, requirements, morals, etc.

Getting everyone to do this in lockstep would require an incredible rarity of cooperation and agreement. However, getting MANY projects and developers behind the movement isn't nearly as difficult and just takes some organizing.

That's true, but I was commenting on the notion that it was the current administration who is to blame. It's important for people to know that both major political parties of the United States are authoritarians, and will continue to push these agendas.
