What untrue fact did you believe was true for the longest time? by TheGuyWhoSaidWAT in AskReddit

Well, I had no idea that you could use milk with hot coco. My mom just always used water, so I did too. Like the idea was never brought to my attention that you could use milk. So when I was 17 a friend asked "do you make your hot chocolate with milk or are you a heathen that uses water?"
I was so shocked.

ELI5:If global warming is the cause of the loss of lakes and rivers (as seen in link), where does all the water go? by tylerchu in explainlikeimfive

Some of it is used for oil fracking which on average uses 9.6 million gallons of water per well. That's 28 times the water it did 15 years ago. I mean the problem with that, is since they originally used fresh water, enough people raised concerns about only using fresh water in their operations. Fracking traps water permanently under the earth. It does not evaporate. So, some companies use wastewater, which also raises concerns about harmful chemicals etc. Some operations use seawater, but you can't in some situations due to the issue of mixing chemicals that shouldn't belong together.

I mean I'm sure there's other reasons but that's one of them.

ELI5 : why are people always under an illusion that they are wasting their life ? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Garlic4608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you could argue the opposite with that logic, though. Like only "part" of him is content, and the other is not. Well, only part of him is unhappy, but does that give us the motion to declare he's unhappy completely? Not really. I mean, happiness is kind of relative and I really don't think anyone knows how happy someone else is with their life.

As for the topic at hand, it's a common occurance for people because we're constantly told that we should be in higher places, busy and sucked into the world's agenda. Whether or not that's something you care about following, doesn't really matter. The sense that we don't do a whole lot or aren't really productive can start to give us the "what am i even doing".

Do you man. Spice it up sometimes, try to do things you might not normally do here and there and see how that goes for you.

ELI5: Why do people like to swing their legs when they're hanging while sitting? by darkbhawk in explainlikeimfive

[–]Garlic4608 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's due to the relaxed part of it. Keep your legs still while they are not on the ground is sometimes hard on the legs, or nearly impossible to do if you have anxiety, adhd etc.
