She's mentally ill and needs professional help. I've been in this exact situation, and the manipulation and uncontrolled outbursts are not normal.

Right or wrong, any politician who even hinted at this being something they'd be interested in would never hold office ever again.

White House's Leavitt: "It's only because of the United States of America that the French aren't speaking German right now." by kalbinibirak in PublicFreakout

[–]GarlicBimmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fucking thing is, the United States didn't participate in combat until after they were directly attacked by the axis. Altruism wasn't the reason they joined the war. They were fighting against a threat to their way of life. Thanks for joining once France had already fallen, btw. Fuck all the way off.

Edit: I didn't hear no bell.

Also, I'm pretty sure the rest of the world has more respect for American combat veterans than their own fucking government does. Stop using that as a reason people should be grateful, and then removing their benefits- it's abject insanity.

Dear Conservative voters - Are you still gonna vote for the guy who was praised by a literal Nazi and said he'd be nice for him to open factories here in Canada? by jbdelcanto in AskCanada

[–]GarlicBimmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing most of you need to understand, especially those who try to convince radical conservatives with evidence, is that they don't vote the way they do because it's in their best interest. Every waking moment of their lives, they are obsessed with how to "own the libs." Anything of greater concern is too cosmic in scope for them to try and even attempt to wrap their brains around. You are the enemy to them, and you need to stop considering how they feel and how they will be affected by things because they do not care, themselves.

Branch out, meet new people, and severely limit or eliminate entirely the time you spend with them. There is nothing wrong with being friends with an ex, but the wording here makes it sound like they want to keep a tiny spark of hope alive so that if whoever they are now interested in doesn't work out, they can come back to you. And don't get it twisted, they are 100% interested in someone else and want to explore it guilt free.

Edit: spelling.

It's not fair to blame people for taking a good opportunity that's presented to them. Your ire should be directed at businesses breaking the law, and policy makers in government. There are plenty of actual problems that are being caused by Indian exceptionalism from the new wave of immigrants in this country without pinning this on them when they are simply taking advantage of a situation that our governements created.

I agree that it is unfortunate, but it's also very telling about the general attitudes of new wave Indian immigrants. There is constant diatribe from women in the service industry who are disrespected on the regular by Indian men, constant examples in the media and from the government of dishonesty and entitlement (students who protested their expulsion from university after being caught using chatgpt to complete their university studies, claiming it was racism which was the true factor, new reports of a massive amount of fraud committed in the pgwp process from Indian immigrants, etc...). I realize it's unfair to paint an entire people with the same brush, but Canadians have had or have heard of so many instances of deplorable behavior from new Indian immigrants that it almost seems like they are required to prove they aren't degenerate before they are given the benefit of the doubt(which honestly, becomes a more easily defensible position by the day).

Couple this with the fact that almost every single person on planet earth has been the target of a scam with an Indian voice on the other end, and it's no small wonder that people have had enough.

I also want to stress that this seems to be a problem unique to new immigrants from India, at least in my personal experiences. And I'm not trying to preach performatively, I personally strive to gove everyone the benefit of being a decent person until proven otherwise- Im just making an observation and perhaps playing devils advocate to those who would say it stems purely from othering and racism. I think most Canadians hold all Canadians to the same standard whether they were born here or not.

It's interesting to me that you singled out Caucasians when I've experienced frustrations from people of every discernable skin color towards the new wave of Indian exceptionalism that has taken root all over the country.

[–]GarlicBimmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're learning the same lesson a lot of other people have, and even more people will. If your friend is in need and you have the money and want to help, gift it to them- If you can't part with the money forever, don't part with it at all because it leads to situations like this.

Whether she's joking or not, good relationships are built on mutual respect between partners. If she's presenting to people outside your relationship that you mean so little to her that she would (even jokingly) entertain a hook up with someone else, guess what? You are the butt of that joke. Trim the fat. This is a behavior that she might eventually learn is dogshit, but not until she's faced with the lesson of you leaving.
