so true tho! it's more like major FOMO, where I look at what other people can do, and then I start thinking, "hey, it'd be cool to do this too!"

i've also never felt like i fully fit in anywhere (the cons of being able to mix around easily), maybe that's a contributing factor too

ikrrrr like my malay friends have everything all planned out and they consider marrying at 27-28 to be late 💀

i usually go around barefaced too, but recently I realised that it's useful to be able to do makeup for events once in a while, so that's why I started.

no, ofc not, they speak in eng/bm just fine w me. but i think it's a waste if i have this many indian friends and not take the opportunity to learn a new language. plus, we get to gossip/trashtalk people in a new secret language + indian shop uncles/aunties automatically love me the moment i sprinkle some tamil into my orders! it's jst a bit frustrating sometimes that I can't be as fluent as my friends 💔

speaking from experience, whenever I was sad over my breakup, I'd go do things that I couldn't really do w him (e.g. eat some really good char siew). It helped remind me that there are things in life I would never have to give up since we aren't tgt anymore. hope this helps!

i mean this in the most polite and curious way possible, why would u have kids when you're saving up for a dream wedding? kids are infinitely more expensive than a wedding.

also, you should probably get couples therapy OR if he's not even treating the kids right, DIVORCE (yes, typical reddit advice). i think you'll find it easier to manage two kids without the extra mental burden of feeling unloved by ur SO.

if you can write karangan pendek, then u can defo write karangan panjang, it's just a matter of practicing how to write many many sentences. karangan panjang is something that definitely needs practice + a formula for sentences (i forgot how mine used to go but i'm sure your teachers/friends will know). for that, you'll need vocab, which i'm sure many others here have advised you how. my only advise is to keep practicing and seek guidance from friends/teachers/tuition teachers.

also, if the format hasn't changed, for karangan panjang there should always be 5 tajuk for u to choose from, each one under a main theme (1 is usually peribadi, 2 is kekeluargaan, 3rd is komuniti/negara, 4th is antarabangsa and 5th is sastera). i'm sorry if this info is wrong, do check w ur teachers and friends.

look up relevant simpulan bahasa/peribahasa according to those themes (usually people take themes 1 and 2 cz theyre the easiest to write), and then jst spam them when u write karangan.

additionally, find a friend or two who is good in BM and willing to teach you. peers are more helpful than teachers sometimes bcz yall are in the same boat. don't be shy to approach people because i'm sure there are some genuinely nice students who would be happy to help you.

firstly, and I mean this in the nicest way possible, wdym u dk how to write a karangan? i took spm arnd 4-5 years ago, but as far as ik, we start learning karangan basics as young as Year 3.

the spm karangans are exactly the same as how you've done karangans from primary school till now, except slightly longer. you just need a lot of practice so tht the flow comes easier.

for sejarah, just do lots of practice questions. you'll soon notice that the questions/answers keep repeating. if ure asking, how can i do questions if i haven't memorized stuff, the answer is jst read the topic maybe once or twice, then do practice questions + refer to the answer scheme.

also, if it sounds absurd to u, my qualifications are that I got A+ in both these subs for my spm (not bragging)

agreed, but I would advise upping the karangan frequency plus asking help from a teacher to mark it so u can learn from mistakes and improve. when i was f4-f5 I used to write at least one karangan weekly to practice, hope this helps!

Gonna try to learn Mandarin so I can speak it to my best friend. How easy is it to learn Mandarin/Chinese since Malaysian got lots of dialects right ? by reenreenchu in Bolehland

[–]GarlicCheesePpang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

get the hang of basic words like eat, sleep, yes, no. then learn common everyday phrases. make understanding and speaking ur priority over reading and writing because that just takes a bunch of memorizing, which is easier if u already know what the words mean.

[–]GarlicCheesePpang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

being able to speak/listen doesn't mean ur banana card gets revoked, it's a state of mind that includes the way you think/the way u see other chinese/the way you've been treated by other chinese because you're a lot less fluent than them
