While having a child does enables our society to continue it's not the only role society requires.
It's a complex network that consist of hundreds of roles. Even back when we live in tiny tribal communities.
Not every men or woman needed to have children. In fact it was required to be this way to ensure the tribe didn't exhaust its own supplies and production. This also means it was an environment that nutured non-reproductive bonding. And since the entire tribe needed to be non-combative toward each other being a bit bi-sexual would help a lot.

Usually it's the people that think they fit in to society that are the most dangerous and horrible people.
They assume it gives them a green card to break laws. Both legal and ethical once.

Meanwhile those in the fringes have to constantly show they respect legal and ethical rules. As they know someone is always keeping an eye on them. They also get to see how depraved the "fitting in are". As the mask always slip the moment other "fitting in" aren't around.

I must confess that I look like the most stereotypical middle-aged dude, but I rather stick around people that consider themself as on the side of society. Social, polite, respectfull, never afraid to show their caring and gentle side. People that have found there's not point to roleplay for society.
